members of the finance committee who performed yeomanry duties were festival vice chairman Tommy Jung and Bob Kent, assisted by Charlie Lee, Harry Chin, Wong Chew Yin, Bing Chin and Lee Doe Chun. Window display committee chairman Bill Con organized decorations in Chinatown stores, several of which turned out to be real masterpieces, especially the Gim Lee Yuen arrangement depicting Chinese culture and traditions of Chinese New Year. It was the object of widespread attention. The important post of ticket control went to Tommy Mah and prize committee chaiman was Richard Mar. Busiest man on the festival was Chinese language secretary Wong Kown Fow who handled all the Chinese press releases in addition to his secretarial duties. English language secretaries Tim Mah, Henry Chung and Watts D. Lee all had their hands full with the various facets of the festivities. Dean and Faye Leung were flawless in the publicity department. Mali F. Sing's canvassing committee whose members included Bong Ken Quan, Mah Sen Wun, Eng Sen Yee, Tom Yee and Thomas J. L. Wong" did an outstanding job which resulted in nearly $3000 cash donations. John Lam's Ching Won Musical Society and Po On Lim's Ngai Lum Musical society members provided New Year music for the grand finale. All told, more than 100 festival committee members were pressed into service. The entire community took part and assisted the program in one way or another. The biggest contributor to the festival fund was the Chinatown Restaurant Assn, fresh cut flowers for the theatre was donated by Vancouver Wholesale Florists, reception room for the Victoria Drum and Bell corps members and refreshments for press conference donated by Lotus Gardens, Sing Lim was the peerless artist who designed the program cover; in individual cash donations, the largest amount came from apartment block owner Lee Doe Chun and Sun Life unit manager Bob Lowe; T. Eaton's offered floor space for publicity and promotion; Jin Wah Sing Musical Society supplied stage lighting.
