Ttie attempted strategy was nothing new. SdDAN and the JCCP have spearheaded a smear campaign of rumor and Innuendo against the NRC In Toronto: SO DAN especially has led a whispering campaign against the NRC In Toronto, but it has never attempted to prove these distortions and fabrications.
Montreaにs Vic Ogura expressed this feeling during :he phone conference. "What 卵we talking abouリ,he ask-Kl."Has anybody proved that George and his colleagues have been autocratic and not doing their job?"
Toronto JCCA president, RItz Inouye echoed these-comments. "I cannot understand why people like Vancouver say the co mmはtee has done nothing," she said. "If the JCCP and other B.C. residents haven't received anything, thenは's the Van-

Mas Kawaname, of Calgary, was more to the point. "I'm disappointed. 1 spent my own money tQ go to Toronto and there was nothing but arguments.けyou are going to do this in Winnipeg, then I won't spend my own money agalnノ'
Jay Hunter, of Kelov^ia, also questioned the SO DAN and JCCP activities at the" meeting when he said: "I find はhard to believe that people came to the redress meeting to destroy people-and not to deal with the issue. What are we dealing with? We have to clear this up." -M.S.
Redress…
ments about how an' Individual should spend his or her money.
4) Individual redress Is the most //7c/fvsA^e form of redress: individual redress does not prohibけanyone from deciding to form local trusts or community foundations, but redress via the route of a national foundation or group settlement does exclude Individual redress. Individual redress avoids the either/or approach and allows the most options.
4) Individual redress speaks to the needs of isolated, scat, tered Issel who live in places that are too small to support large-scale projects such as senior ci"zens' homes or cuけural centres. They may be
too proud to demand redress for themselves, but if they were awarded individual redress, they would then be in the posけion to leave inheritances to their children and their children's children. This is a matter of seけ.respect and pride for the Issei and cannot be addressed via a foundation or administered trust. In this respect, Individual redress is the ort/y form of redress that will benefはthe many • Issei who do not live in large cities or population C6ntrss.
For the above reasons, we support individual redress as the most just form of redress for Japanesb Canadians.
