Bom in what is now Poland, Dr. Katz came here as a child and received his education al Toronto public schools; the Central Technical School, Queens University (class of 1934); and the California Institute of Technology (doctorate cum laude, 1942). He did research on radar at the Westinghouse laboratories until 1946 when he was named to teach physics and to conduct research with the 22 men betatron in nu-. clear physics. He had won a number of Queen's University and National Research Council scholarships. Dr. Katz has served on the executive committee of Congress in Saskatoon and on the committee of the Canadian Friends of the Hebrew University.

� CANADIAN Jewish Congress: Dr. Leon Katt, nuclear physicist on the faculty of the University of Saskatchewan, is the first Canadian Jew to be elected a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada.
