� Measure into a large bowl \fa c, lukewarm water, 1 up. granulated lugar; stir until sugar is dissolved. Sprinkle with I envelope Fleischmann's Fast Rising Dry Yeast. Let stand 10 tains., THEN stir well.
Add y4 c lukewarm water and 1 tsp salt. Add. all at once, 3y^ c once-sifted bread Hour and work in with the hands; work in S the, soft shortening. Knead on ligfarJv-floured board until smooth and elastic Place in greased bowl. Cover with a damp doth and act in warm place, free frow draught. Let rise until doubled rn bulk. Punch down dough in bowl, fold over, cover and again let riae until doubled m bulk. Turn out on lightly-floured board aari divide into 2 equal port ions: shape each piece into a long mil about 1L^' in diameter. Cover with a damp ckxh and let rest 15 rams. Using a floured sharp knife, cut dough into T lengths and place, well apart, on ungreased cookie sheets. Sprinkle rolU with cornaeal aad let rise, uncovered, for y2 hour. one-hali cup boiling water one cup finely-chopped
walnuts
one pound dates two cups flour
two eggs
Beat eggs; and mir. in sugar, and oil with boiling water. Siit the flour three time* before measuring, Add baking soda and flour which have been sifted together three times. Then add pitted dates, and cherries .and cherry juice. Pour into an oiled pan, and bake in a slow-oven, 325 degrees', for one hour.

one-half pound beef flank
one bone
one and one-half quarts
water one-third cup dried split
peas
two medium-sized carrots two medium-sized onions two stalks celery one-half cup tomato juice pinch of garlic powder salt and pepper to taste
Bring meat, bone, water, and split peas to boil, and skim. Add carrots, onions, celery, all cubed; tomato juice, and seasoning. Cook in pressure cooker for ..thirty-five minutes; or simmer for two hours. Remove bone and meat. Put the rest through food strainer to make a puree. Add cooked noodles. Pre-heat and serve.
