Some localites read the recent (/W^J5 Feb. 10) item in this corner that began: "In Latin vs Yiddish — the Oys have it" . . . And they were reminded of their experience in touring Bangkok with a private Tai guide whose name was actually spelled and pronounced Oi . . . The Vancouverites were driven by Oi through some pretty amazing and interesting parts of Bangkok, which occasionally elicited from them a spontaneous exclamation of "Oj./'' ... But poor Oi, their tour guide, couldn't really understand either why they kept mentioning her name, or their attempt to explain to her now their comments happened to be punctuated with

Mah Nishtanahl Next edition the JWB Preparing for Pesach series gets underway, detailing what makes Erev Pesach different this year and how it affects your preparations . . . This is only the sixth (and last) time in the entire 20th Century that Erev Pesach falls on Shabbos.

Now for everything you want to know about Purim . . . There's also an oddity about this year's Purini (Adar 14 or Feb. 24-25)—If you happen to live in a Walled City — off hand, I can think of the Old City of Jerusalem and Toledo, Spain, but there are possibly more — you'll celebrate Purim for three days . . . Those living in walled cities must celebrate Shushan Purim on Adar 15 which, in certain rare years such as 1994, occurs on Shabbat... But on Shabbat it's impossible to perform all the mitz-vot required to celebrate Purim (as detailed on Page Five last week) . . . Thus on those rare years such as 1994, Purim in Jerusalem will extend over three days — it becomes Purim Meshu-lash (Triple Purim) — and Triple Purim takes place Sunday, Feb. 27 . . . Now read on about this Purim oddity.

We have a Triple Purim list that goes back only to the beginning of World War II, but according to that list PurimMeshulash has occurred but six times since then -inl950,1954,1974,1977, 1981 and now in 1994 . . . And 1994 is the last Triple Purim in this century!
