On the first day God created chocoiate
Hadassah-WIZO's fifth annual Chocolate Sunday will be held on Sunday, Jan. 14 at the Victoria Conference Centre and Empress Hotel, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Visitors receive five fi-ee samples to choose their favorites from over 45 exhibitors and demonstrators.
There will be continuous, ongoing demonstrations on both floors at Victoria's awn chocolate extravaganza featuring: James Barber, the CBC's Urban Peasant; Government House chef Daniel von Kanel; George Wagner and Malaspina College, Jan-na Ginsburg with her New Style Cuisine, among many others.
A children's corner will feature free face painting, cookie decorating, hat making, a fish pond, story telling and puppeteers.
Callebaut Chocolates have supplied over one ton of chocolate which, in addition to another 500 kilograms of Brazilian chocolate from Lentia Enterprises, will be carved by sculptor Maarten Schaddellee, chef George Wagner and chef Laurent LJiullier of the Empress Hotel to symbolize Jerusalem 3000, the tri-millenium or 3,000th birthday of Jerusalem.
Chocolate Sunday is organized and presented solely by volunteers of Hadassah-WIZO's local chapters. Proceeds from Chocolate Sunday support Hadassah-WIZO hospitals, schools and daycare centres in Israel. □

Library goes high-tech
Library technician Janet Street says it will \ako six months to enter the isaac Waidman Jewish Pubiic Library's 5,000 hooks into the new automated computerized Foiiett catalogue system. The $15,000 for hardware and software was provided by an endowment grant from the Jewish Federation of Eireater Vancouver.
Applications available for youth fellowships to spend 5 weeks in Israel

Applications are now available for the 1996 Bronfman Youth Fellowships in Israel.
The Fellowships, now in their 10th year, offer an opportunity for 26 students entering the 12th grade to spend five weeks in Israel this summer. Fellows will be chosen on the basis of character, inteUectual interests, special talent and leadership qualities. In the competitive selection process, merit, not financial need, is the standard for selection.
While living in Jerusalem, Bronfman Fellows participate in seminars and dialogues with a diverse rabbinic faculty, representing a wide range of Jewish perspectives. They explore Jewish text against the background of Israel's land, culture and customs. In addition, fellows will meet with some of Israel's prominent political and literary figures to examine contemporary issues in light of Jewish history and tradition.

Scholarships to study in Israel
Applications are now available for scholarships for Vancouver students who wish to enroll in programs in Israel.
Jevnsh Federation of Greater Vancouver Endowment Fund and Canadian Zionist Federation offer fimding for education, service-oriented and pre-aliyah programs.
Applications are available at the CZF office at the Jewish Community Centre and must be returned by March 31.
Applicants must reside or have parents residing in B.C. Eligibility is limited to Jewish high school and university students who have demonstrated involvement in local Jewish community programs. Academic status and commitment to future service to the Jewish com-mimity will also be considered.
