Lectures study German-Jewish relations
An upcoming three-part lecture series focuses on the changing relationship between Germans and Jews.
"Germans and Jews: A New Look at an Old Problem" will run 10:15-11:45 a.m. at Temple Sholom on three consecutive Sundays: Jan. 14, 21 and 28.
Tlie first session, called "The Current Situation", wiU discuss how today's Germans are reacting to the renewed visibility of Jews in the country and the growing demands for public recognition of the role the Jews played in public life.
Lectures will be led by Chris Friedrichs, an associate professor of history at UBC. The series is presented by the adult education committee of Temple Sholom. For information, call 266-7190. □
Anti-Semitism focus of tallc
Temple Sholom Sisterhood is hosting a talk titled "The New Anti-Semitism", by SFU professor Norman Swartz.
Open to the entire community, the talk is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 18 at the shul.
Professor Swartz is an expert on hate on the Internet. He is chair of the Holocaust and Anti-Defamation committee of B'nai B'rith Lion's Gate Lodge.
