ANCOUVER- Your logical side tells you, "I'm sitting in an audience in Vancouver in the Twenty-First Century," but your mind is somewhere else: following the exploits of a bored Sumerian King, hanging out in a friendly pub in Ireland, fighting for a just cause, or bopping to sweet spilling rhymes in a Sixties beatnik club. ,
You're at the eleventh annual Vancouver Storytelling Festival, where new discoveries, fascinating people and places, and unexpected inspiration come with the territory.
Everyone is invited to attend the largest festival to date and revel in the extraordinary tales told by people from across Canada, the United States, Ireland and Britain - folks with the passion and talent to bring stories to life.
From hilarious Irish folk tales-to-personal tales of Southern belles, from ancient epic and myth to improvised yarns so new, they're spun on the spot. The Vancouver Storytelling Festival covers an immense, entertaining territory of style, content and culture.
There are tales for small people and grown-ups, spoken word from the cutting edge, and stories of women and workers.
