Person of the Year: John Keane
VANCOUVER - Irish-born John Keane was awarded this year's Person of the Year Award by The Celtic Connection in recognition of his dedicated service to the Seattle community through his work with the Seattle Irish Heritage Club.
John Keane is the one who is called upon when information or help is needed in the Seattle Irish community.
He is involved with every aspect of Irish culture, from his work with the Heritage Club, to organizing the week-long St. Patrick's celebrations.
He is also deeply involved with
Gaelic sports, theatre, drama, charity events and the booking of Irish entertainment for the various events throughout the year.
He regularly sends out e-mails to keep everyone informed about the up-coming events taking place in Seattle. He has travelled to Ireland with trade missions and fosters close relations with Galway, the sister city to Seattle.
He is also involved with the Seattle community at large and was recently called upon to help organize the recent visit of Irish President, Mary McAleese to the city of Seattle.
John Keane is Mister Green Pages of the Irish community in the Emerald city of Seattle. He also write a monthly column in The Celtic Connection which helps keeps everyone connected to the larger Irish community across Western Canada and the U.S. Pacific Northwest.
