Two years ago Sue was voted the 'Golden Boy" award at the Tacoma -;f »Uh»n Gloves tournament and at a MM.ii'i, tournament in Seattle. This p.i-i M';^i>n. i;、' v\as honored again at Tacoma. This however, was only part of the reason for Sue deciding to become a professional. He stated that "I wasn't jotting enough action. I've only had Um、、 fights since the nationals. And I don't want to get rusty."
Of Chinese descent, Sue is the son of a former boxer who fought professionally for some 17 years. Harry Sue battled iti every class from flyweight up to lightweight and appeared in New York's Madison Square Garden. Dick Sue is unable to tell of any of his father's exploits, however, as treasured scrapbooks were lost in the Van-port flood.
The younger Sue so far has followed well in the tradition of a fighting family. He has been in the ring as an amateur for three years and has had 60 fights. He lost only eight times, all on decisions. He has posted 20 knockouts, many of them early.
