Requiem for Birds and Beasts
(The Asian Student) From time immemorial birds and beasts that were pets to man or did service to him have won a soft spot in his heart. We have seen children shed profuse tears when their pet birds, dogs or cats died, and hold funeral services for them. All over the world there are graves of birds and beasts where they were lovingly laid to rest by their masters. Outside of Paris is a cemetery for dogs where their graves are complete with gravestones with inscriptions bearing their names, brief histories of their lives and words of endearment from their masters. Every now and then their masters or friends visit their graves and lay fresh flowers there.
