Sumo Wrestlers Show In Montreal
MONTREAL � Marking the first time to ..history that pro. .sumo wrestlers have.made an appearance in Canada, the four wrestler* from Japan appeared on the Montreal Forum wrestling card last Wed., Oct. 17.
The four are Maedayama at 320 lbs., 6 feet 2 inches, Onoumi at 305, 5 feet. 11 inches, and Fujitayama at 310 and 5 feet -5 inches, and Yakatayama at 3fi0 lbs and 6 feet 2 inches. They are under the Ming of Al Richardson of Australia who has been conducting them on an extensive tour of the U.S. with Britain and France as next stops.

according to sumo rules*. They made arrangements, therefore, to reinforce the ring so that neither the wrestlers or the ringsiders would get hurt.
The four Japanese wrestlers appeared on matchmaker Eddie Quinn's card with a team duel between Larry .Moquin and Rill Darnel against two masked wrestlers.
This is the first time in either Canada or the V.S. that legitimate professional sumo wrestlers from Japan have performed although (here have beet, others who have pe*\ed as the real articles.
While in New York, the four wrestlers were to have been televised but the TV officials insisted upon them wearing more fully covered attire than their usual loincloths in the int e rest S o f "good taste and (lis-.* ret ion".

LOS ANGELES, Calif. � Tommy Umeda, Honolulu Nisei featherweight and 442nd Regiment-a] Combat team veteran, left here by Clipper last week to fulfill a six-month contract to tour Australia for a series of boxing matches.
Umeda, booked to fight in Melbourne, Syndey and Brisbane, originally was denied an entry-permit by. Australia's immigration department because he is not of Caucasian ancestry. Following the disclosure that Umeda was a feinber of the 442nd Regiment, the Australian Government reversed its action.
