for Combined Jewish Appeal and United Israel Appeal reached a new high total of $3,223,633, Percy Caplan, general chairman, told campaign workers at the closing dinner In the Windsor Hotel. That is $262,000 more than was raised last year; and is the highest total ever achieved in the history of the.Joint Campaign in Montreal, he said. The Combined Jewish Appeal will receive $1,837,428.80; the United Israel Appeal, $1,031,-520. The additional $354,685 was raised for the Rescue and Survival Fund, an extra campaign to send immediate aid to Israel for its resettlement of Jewish refugees and other immigrants. This money and the U.I.A. funds are spent in Canada to purchase goods which are sent to Israel. Combined Jewish Appeal incorporates the eight of the Federation of

Mr. Caplan said the closing dinner was postponed for a week because the official two-week period assigned to the campaign is not long enough to get sufficient coverage of all contributors and prospects. He appealed to workers to continue their efforts until all the pledge cards still out have been covered. Arthur S. Rosichan, executive director, expressed appreciation for the campaign staff after Mr. Caplan thanked the staff.
