JEWISH COMMUNISTS ACCUSED OF MISAPPROPRIATING RELIEF MONEYS
London (J. P. A.)At the annual conference of the Federation of Ukrain-an Jews, now taking place in this city, Dr. Brutskus accused the Jewish Coni-munists of Russia of diverting 90 per cent, of the funds and clothing sent to Jews in Russia and Ukrainia, to non-Jews, only one-tenth of the relief moneys being distributed among the Jewish needy. Dr. Brutskus also reported that the Jewish Communists in Russia, headed by the "Idgezkom," the Jewish Social-Welfare Committee, are doing everything possible to influence the government to prevent the Chaluzim from emigrating to Palestine. The majority of the Gentile Communists are sympathetic toward Zionism, but their Jewish colleagues urge its destruction.
The conference passed a resolution to assign $25,000 for the foundation of a Jewish Emigrants' bank which will aid the Jewish refugees in the various European cities.
The conference of Ukrainian Jews also decided to initiate a strong agitation that all nations open their doors to pogrom victims and that even those countries which have immigration restrictions should not apply them in the cases of these unfortunates.
This motion was sponsored by Itzchok Greenbaum, the well-known deputy in
the Polish Selm, who read aloud a circular of the. Hamburg American Line instructing port1 officials not to accept Jewish emigrants going to 4 Canada,1 because that government ViewB with, disfavor Jewlshlmmigration.
