Opening of Sytiagog Bnai hracl
The grand opening of the.Synagog Bnai Israel was held on Sunday, August 27, 1922, at 257 Shaw Street, The meeting was called to order by Mr. M. Johnson, who, after a few introductory remarks, called upon the president, Mr. M. Ellenberg, to act as master of ceremonies.
The opening was provided with a good orchestra, the door being opened with the golden key by Mr. K. Herman. Afterwards, Cantor Saitz sang "Pishoo le Shari Zedeck," which resulted in loud applause. Rabbi Siegel gave the opening address in which he pleaded for unity and goodwill. Appeals were made on behalf of the synagog by Miss S. Ellenberg and Eli Bohnen (both children of the Synagog Talmud Torah), which were loudly applauded.
The officersPresident M. Ellen-berg, Vice-President M. Layevsky, and Treasurer B. Vexlerwere presented with 14k. gold watches as gifts of appreciation for their noble work. The address of presentation was read by Messrs. Johnson, Wilson, Bohnen, and Breslin.
Refreshments were served free. Quite a sum of money was realized. f
The sudcgfcl of the opening was largely due not only to the committee, which consisted of Messrs. Gruner, Gordon, Johnson, Breslin, Bohnen, KeJman, Keller and Smith, but to the hearty co-operation of a committee of the Independent Daughters of Israel, which consisted of Mesdames Breslin, Ellen-berg, Gruner, Vexler, Bohnen, Lagan, Cohen and Grandie, who worked hard to make things pleasant for the guests.

NEW OBSTACLES TO EMIGRATING MARRIED WOMEN
Warsaw (J. P. A.)Married women, who are seeking to rejoin their husbands in America, now have new difficulties in obtaining a visa of their passports.
If their husbands are not citizens, they can not obtain a visa upon their passports, even though their brothers and sisters, who are citizens, send them the required affidavits.
The American consul declared that inasmuch as these women are not going to be with their brothers and sisters but with their husbands, the latter have no right to bring their wives to this country so long as they are not citizens themselves.
Jos. Kronick, Prop. M. H. Bernstein, Mfcr.
