At the annual dinner of the Society of the Friends of Musk held at th* Hotel Aator, it was announced by Rubin Goldmark, the composer, of the decfsion made not to award tht Alfred F. Seligsberg Cantata Priae of $1,000 thii year because none of the cantatas submitted came up to the standard set by the jury. Mr. Goldmark also announced a plan' to increase the guaranty fund of the society to $100,000 and that they were approaching their goal in this respect. The society plans a drive to increase its membership from 1,250 to 5,000.

Announcement of a first donation of $10,000 by Bernhard Barren, Jew-ish philanthropist, to a fund being raised for the education of Irish children in Great Britain, was made in an appeal from T. P. O'Connor, known as "Father of the British House of Commons/' for Irish support of the project. In a statement made public two days after he sailed on the Aquitania for England, he said conditions of the general mass of Irish people in Great Britain "is the one sad reflection" in a story of Irish progress throughout the world.
