� JEWISH P1RETZ Schools 171,000 bonding and maintenance fund campaign will be conducted from November 16 to 29. The Schools have their central organisation at 190 Duloth Street East, and operate an Uptown Branch School at 6709 Esplanade Avenue. Classes embrace a Yiddish-English Kindergarten, Yiddish - English Elementary School, Day School of English and Jewish studies, evening classes and High School instruction for graduates of the Elementary School. The schools teach Yiddish and Hebrew langu* age and literature; Jewish history; Bible; Agadah; Jewish custom*; social science; music; current events. In two years, enrol* raent increased from 312 to over 500 children, over-crowding present premises, and. the Peretc Schools, the only educational institution of their kind east of St Lawrence Blvd., have been compelled to turn away many. � Dr. Edward Kitsch, formerly of Montreal, has been appointed administrator of the Menorah Hospital, in Brooklyn, N.Y. He is thirty-three, a graduate of McGill University, and studied at the New York Institute for Hospital Administrators. He interned at the Jewish General Hospital here, and was resident physician at the Montefiore Hospital, in New York, and resident physician in the institution's pulmonary division. He was chief resident physician at the Montefiore Hospital Country Sanitarium, in New Bedford Hills, N.Y-, and since has served as assistant director of the Jewish Hospital in Brooklyn. During his college years he w*s director of the Bnai Brith camp for underprivileged boys, at Lac bon-gue. He is a member of the American College of Hospital Administrators, the American Hospital Association, and the Assistant Administrators' Society of New York. DEATHS
Paul Katz, husband of Esther Stein, and father of Miss Frances Katx, died at his home, 4067 Colonial Avenue, on October 16. He is survived also by his sister, Mrs. L. Pomerance. Funeral took place from Paperman's, Rabbi 8. Her. schorn officiating. Burial was in Beth David Synagogue Cemetery, and Shiva was at the home. Mr. Katz came to Montreal from Manchester, England, fifty-eight years ago. He was one of the original founders of Beth David Synagogue, and for many years was its secretary.
