Lisa was alone in the world. She kept busy enough, worked hard at a defease Job, invested moat of her earnings In war bonds, served at the Bed Cross. Bat her life was empty. All those dear to her had been killed by the Germans. And than last weak, she came beck to the J.D.C. off ice, this time with a brisk eagerness in her face,
"Is it true? Can it possibly be true? This list in the paper . my husband's niece 7. . her name is here!" She pointed with trembling fingers to a list of Jewish children in France who had bean cared for during the occupation by OSE, the medical and child care agency subventlonad by JJhC.
"Can it be true that little Giselle is still aliveT Even after the Germans deported her father and mother?"
Within a few hours a cable was on its way to France to ask for more complete details on the location and general situation of fourteen-year-old Giselle Levy.

Negotiations are now under way to effect a reunion.
Giselle is typical of a whole generation of German children. Forced to flee to France when the persecutions in their own home city became so severe, the family sought refuge in Paris. Once again, however, the Germans forced them to move. This time, though, Giselle's parents decided to ask their to '

Finally, liberation. As soon at possible, the OSE reopened its child care institutions and brought Giselle to one in Marseilles. From there her name was sent to the United States in hope* that some relative would see it and arrange for a reunion.
Giselle is only one of 6,600 children who are charges of OSE. Already it has reopened four of its orphans' homes and transferred 1,200 children to newly opened colonies. Some 2,500 children have been united with their parents, and contact has been made in another 600 cases. This work is still continuing.
