MONTREAL MEETINGS
UNITED Jewish Camps, a body formed to coordinate the work of the four camps operated by the community, will accept children whose families wish, and can afford, to make whole or partial payment for them. The camps are: B'nai Brith, for boys; Sunshine Camp, for boys and girls, direction of the Jewish Child Welfare Bureau; Council Camp for Girls, sponsored by the Council of Jewish Women; Laurentian Fresh Air Camp for Mothers and Children. Priority will continue to be given to children from families that cannot afford to pay, but extra space will be available for children of families that may wish to make small or larger payments and, space permitting, registration will be open also to families able to pay the entire fee; This plan is the result of a survey prepared by Edward Barkoff and Philip Garfin-kle, member of the Executive Committee of the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies. Registration will take place at the Y.M.H.A. from 2 to 6 p.m., each mid-week afternoon. Medical examination will be available for all campers previous to leaving the city, and there will be no differentiation between paying and non-paying campers, for none but the central administration, which remains in the city and does not appear at the camps, will known who is or is not paying. Another change is that, except for the Laurentian Fresh Air Camp, which is the only camp serving mothers, only a three-week stay in camp will be permitted. An exception will be made in the case of children for whom a longer stay is recommended because of health or other reasons.
