However, a law is now being prepared under which they can receive special aid as "politically persecuted" victims of the Nazi regime. At first Jews were excluded from all such special aid to the politically persecuted, which was given only "fighters for Austria's liberty."
In the meantime a report has been received from Washington that the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration is prepared to grant special aid to Austrian Jews by giving them the status of displaced persons and shipping them extra food under a loophole clause in the relief administration contract with the Austrian Government.
A census taken early this year by the Jewish Community .Organization showed that 60 per cent of the Jews of Austrian citizenship in .Austria did not really, consider themselves Austrians but merely were waiting for an opportunity to migrate.

Applications are invited by the Canadian Jewish Congress for overseas relief work. Persons engaged by the Canadian Jewish Congress will work in the relief teams of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee in Germany and elsewhere. Applicants are required to have training and experience in social work, particularly in group activities, field activities and case work. Hen and women wth organizing abilities are especially required. Applications are to be made in writing to the national executive, director, Canadian Jewish Congress, stating age, education, training and experience. They must be accompanied by photographs and references.
