Arab Urges Absorb Jews
Abdul Kahman Azsam Pasha, Secretary General of the Arab League, declared in Paris that the Arabs could not understand how President Truman could ask a small country like Palestine to absorb 100,000 additional Jewish imigrants when the United States could easily take in all the Jews of the world.
"It is easy to talk when one does not have the responsibility of carrying out policies", he safe! in an interview. "Politically and economically there is no more room in Palestine for Jewish immigration.
With the admission of 100,000 Jews, the entire status of Palestine would be changed, Azzam Pasha said. He said that the Jews would be in the majority in that event The Arabs are trying to maintain the Arab character of Palestine," be declared. They shall never accept an

Germany, especially since the end of the war, has, in some ways, contaminated some members of the Red Array and infected them with dislike of the Jews. This, is evidenced in the soldier's remark?, his attitude and general behaviour. Many Red Army men who were in Poland are likewise infected with the anti-Semitic virus.

Suddenly one of the Russians loudly, "Why cant they speak Yiddishr The remark was obviously meant for us.
It must be stated that not a single one of the hundreds of Polish Jews I spoke to could point to any definite anti-Jewish act committed by these "infected" Red Army men, but it is nevertheless remarkable that they were all conscious of a feeling of anti-Semitism, an attitude of coldness that was often hostile. When spoken to by a Jew, for instance, the soldiers would answer offensively or ignore the remark altogether, or say something which indicated their dislike of Jews, a practice which, according to these Jews, was not usual with Red Army men generally, since they were friendly and showed no hostility to Jews.
I asked, them whether, on the basis of the experience accumulated by them during their stay in Russia, there was any reason to suppose that, should the Soviet Government change its present policy towards Jews, the population would become hostile. The reply I got was that, on the whole, this would be the case. Anti-Semitism is not alien to the Russians, particularly the older generation. If the severe punishment meted out in Russia to-day for anti-Jewish activity were removed, it was the opinion of the Jews I talked to
of the situation in and of the anti-Jewish the terrorists. On hearing of they all decided to return to sia. /-
The Russian authorities make no difficulties for anyone changing, his mind. In Warsaw, the Russian consulate appears to be the-only one granting visas to Jews wishing to emigrate. -
Some Jews return after ipead ing a few days in Poland. Occasionally the trucks bringing the Jews are found to have inscriptions such as, "Take them to the soap factory," and "Where is HH-ler to take care of them?" chalked up on them. These inscriptions ~~ peared after the trains had ed the Polish side of the "
