A Protest
Against
Desecration
By Rabbi I'inchas flirshjtniiig, Of Montreal
May I draw the attention of the leaders of the Canadian Jewish Review to a most outrageous case of "Chillul Hashcm" (Desecration of God's name) which was committed publicly and unrestrained by any considerations cf tact or tradition in full view of hundreds of vacationers in many resort places in the Laurentians on Shab-bath "Chason", on the Eve of the Ninth of Ab, the Day of Mourning for the destruction of our sanctuary and state.
On this Shabbath a number of cars, bearing banners in blue and white, the Israeli colours, propaganda posters and loudspeakers, were cruising through the streets cf Val Morin. From the loudspeakers the announcement was blaring forth that the next day (on Tisho B'Ab) at three o'clock in the afternoon, a floor show would be shown under the sponsorship of the Bnai Brith Lod^e. Dancers would participate and, in proper celebration of this Day of our National Mour-ing, fun of every kind would be amply provided for. Total proceeds of the celebration to go to Aid To Israel.
Many of the Jewish vacationists who stood there in stunned silence. watching this sad spectacle, were at a less to understand how a Jewish organization could show such a manifest lack of feeling for the Day of National Mourning, for tradition, for all that is held in reverence by the Jewish people, and they asked me this question: "Could the Bnai Brith Lodge find no other way of contributing to the support of Eretz Yisroel than by a floor show with dance girls en Tisho B'Ab?"
I could not give an answer to this, question then, and have nut found one since, for I could not have believed an occurrence like this could ever happen had I not witnessed it with my own eyes. There is not the slightest doubt in my heart that, if the Jews in Eretz Yisroel knew that on their traditional Day of Mourning the Jews in the Golath arrange floor shows with dancers and jitterbug, they would with utter contempt reject such "support" They would refuse to accept help that cornea from a source ao utterly

LUNCH BOX LORE
A good lunch, well planned and well packed, pays dividends in health and morale, nutritionists say. The lunch should be planned to fit in with and supplement the other meals of the day. It should be packed in a box with a thermos bottle if possible. The foods should be wrapped separately to keep them fresh. Small, tight-lidded jars are suggested for salads, puddings and stewed fruits. It is essential that metal lunch boxes be scrubbed and
aired daily. A thermos should be washed with a mild soda solution, scalded and left uncorked.
