Dr. Wulf Sachs, South African authority on psycho-analysis, died at Johannesburg, South Africa, at the age of 56. A student and friend of the late Sigmund Freud, Dr. Sachs had but one more chapter to complete on his life-long work, "The Psychology of Suffering."
Born in Russia of Jewish parents, Dr. Sachs received degrees from the Psychoneurological Institute in Leningrad and from universities in Britain, Germany and South Africa.
Dr. Sachs' best-known book is "Black Anger," published by Little, Brown & Co., in 1917. It deals with the psychoanalysis of a former African witch doctor. Dr. Sachs visited the U. S. the same year.

He emigrated to South Africa in 1923, and five years later began studying the Negro African at a mental hospital in the Transvaal. Through studies of native medicine men he concluded that schizophrenia and insanity were identical in the Negro and white races.
Dr. Sachs wrote a number of other books, including "Black Hamlet," "Psychoanalysis and IU
