MISSION from page 1
vival of the state of Israel that all Jews worldwide, no matter how you feel politically or how you feel religiously, must be one," said Wilner. "I think that is the message that came through loud and clear from the entire three days that we've been here."
The trip included many highlights, however the delegates said the emotional highlight was the meeting with family members of
one of the Israeli army reservists lynched in Ramallah and a soldier abducted by Hezbollah.
"It was very emotional but it demonstrated the determination of Israelis to continue supporting Israel and accepting their terrible personal tragedy as a contribution to the fight for Israel's survival," said Ronen. "Their fortitude during this terrible time is amazing."
"It was a time to cry and a time to share each other's sorrow, but also a time to say we are one," said Dimant.
Dimant told the Bulletin that one of the reasons he and other Canadians went on the mission was to learn more about the Israeli/Palestinian fighting so that they could come home and educate the Canadian people and the government.
"We're going to be in a federal election campaign and we're certainly going to speak to the members of Parliament and impress upon them the importance of supporting Israel without any kind of qualification," he said. "Israel is struggling. It's in a war and it needs the support of sister democracies."
"When we come home we are going to be calling on Canadian Jews to visit Israel," added Ronen. "To fill the hotels, to fill the restam-ants, to come in solidarity and show their support through their feet, not just through their prayers or letters."
Of the delegates, 300 to 400 were American and more than 400 were Europeans and South Americans. The mission wrapped up Nov. 1 wdth military briefings and a meeting with MK Natan Sharansky. □

Traditional highlights included the food vendors, who offered chicken soup with matzah balls, knishes, blintzes and other specialties. The atmosphere was fitinetic, with serious shoppers going elbow to elbow for the best deals.
This was the first year the event took place in the larger venue of the Coliseum, having traditionally taken place in the PNE Forum. □
