Final plans are now being complet ed for the Annual Donor's Limcheon for youth Aliyah to be held on Friday, February 16th, at 12:30 p.m. at the Community Centre. Guest speak-f er, Mrs. Shulman of Chicago, a high-r ly gifted and brlljliant speaker.
Mrs. E. R. Sugarman is arrapgr ing a very interesting program for this affair. Mrs. Max Grosman whd is again in charge of table decorations has excelled herself in her eft forts this year.
Mrs. T. Goldbloom is convening the Ibncheon—assisted by Mrs. Freda Weiss, entertainment chairman and the entire executive.
The cost per plate for the luncheon this year is $6.00 and it is hoped thali eVery Jewish woman will be there to make her contribution to assist us in taking out as many Jewish childreri as possible from Poland and other war zones. Now is the time for everyone of us to make sacrifices. Let us all help. $360 is required to save one child arid your help is most urgently needed.
Come and bring your friends and let us all be grateful that we are in the fortunate position of living in this part of the world and able to help our stricken people. They need cur help and we must not forsake them.

Council of Jewish Women
During the month of January, Council has been very well repire-sented at various Annual Meetings as follows:
1. Mrs. Norman Levin was repre-.^sentative at a banquet given by the Vancouver Health League. - 2. Mrs. M. Cohen attended the meeting of the Joint External Welfare Campaign.
3. Mrs. ,Johh Gordpn attended a meeting for comfort for the soldiers in barracks.
4. Mrs. Harold Wilanski attended the Annual Meeting of the Wonien's Auxiliary tp the Vancouver General Hospital.
5. Mrs. Norman Brown attended the Aiinual Meeting of the Red Cross Society.
6. Mrs. Sam Lechtzier attended ,the Annual Meeting of the Crippled Children's Hospital.
Word has come from the Prairies that Miss Thelma Ginsberg, Regional Director for the West for Canadian National Council will be in Vancouver during the month of March. We are trying to arrange to have Miss Ginsberg as pur guest speaker for the March meeting.
^ Plans for our February meeting are Jbeing completed and will be included in the next issue of the Bulletin.
Council members are asked to remember to bring either cigarettes or jam for treats for the soldiers in the barracks, to our February meeting.
The Satwday Night party held at the home of Mrs. Chas. Korsch on January 20 was well attended and y/as a fine success.

Just to prove that the Young Juda-eans are not merely a club devoted to the sole purpose of holding socials, tile Educational Chairman has embarked upon a plan of holding open forums on interesting topics of the day. For example, the January 28th session of the Yoimg Judaeans, found the club carrying on a heated but Intensely interesting discussion entitled "Conscription in Canada". Also Jack Peters gave an exact account on "Industries in Palestine."
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Zober of Cor-ova, Alaska, are the guests of their rother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Morris. Mr. and Mrs. Zo-bsr are in Vancouver celebrating their thirteenth wedding anniversary, their marriage having taken place in this city.

JUNIOR JUDAEAN GIRLS
With the drive for fxmds for Youth Aliyah, the Junior Judaean Girls y;ho have always been among the first contributors to this most worthy of causes, are planning a nmnber of affairs from which to raise some money. ,
The first of these affairs will be a •social in the form of a "Leap Year Party". This will be held on Saturday night, February 10, at the home of Saul Wosk. There will be a small admission charge, and the full amount collected will be turned over to Youth Aliyah. Please remember he date, February 10, and everyone v/ho comes is assured of the best time they've ever had.
The next regular meeting will be on February 4 at 2.30 p.m. sharp. A large number of members have neglected to pay their, dues and are therefore requested to. bring the money with them on Simday. Also bring in reports of the Raffle Sale.
Don't forget the date of the Youth Aliyah party, February 10.
The directors of the Manufacturers-Life Insurance company report substantial gains in business in force, income and assets at the fifty-third annual meeting.
Business in force Increased to $590, 259,769, a very satisfactory gain pf $17,347,334, New business, Including deferred annuities, amounted to $56,-133,640. Tolal income wa-s $35,069,-C37, an increase of $360,199 over the corresponding figure for 1933. Pay-Hicnts to policyholders and to beneficiaries totalled $16,958,260, of which $12,919,487 was paid to living policyholders and $4,038,773 to beneficiaries ill death claims.
The assets Increased by $10,437,238 during the year and amounted to $177,808,634. After making provision for all liabilities, including policy and annuity reserves of $149,555,539, an amount of $1,027,445 was added to the contingency reserve and surplus, and bringing the contingency reserve to $3,000,000 and the surplus to $4,709,-259.
SELF-SACRIFICE TEAS Mrs. Rose Peel, a person oi great ability and charm has offered her services for Youth Aliyah and will do tea cup reading at the Self Sacrifice Tea, to be held at the home of Mrs. M. Fox, 1751 King Edward, on Wednesday, Feb. 7th from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Mrs. Peel is not Jewish and is glvhig of her time as her contribution to Youth Aliyah. Mrs. Sam Albert, Mrs. Morris Fox and Mrs. B. Shapiro are hostess at that tea. We cordially invite you all to be there.

Twelve Judaean mountain climbers mounted the mighty heights of Grouse Mountain two Suridays ago, in order to try their hand or rather feet at ski-ing. Having once donned their skis, the said mountain climbers proceeded to calculate.the depth of the snow by falling head first into it. In any case the entire group was well pleased at day's end, and as a result, more such events will be held in the future.
Stanford Korsch's home will be the scene of gay hilarity on Saturday evening, February 3, as the Young Judaeans are holding a social for the sole purpose of having a good get-Ujgether. A nominal sum will be charged to all outside persons and members who have not paid their dues, but who wish to attend. Since I the Social Chairman Is planning the evening rather carefully, an enjoyable evening is promised to all.
The next meeting will be February 11, at 8,00 p,m. All prospective members and spectators who wish to see how this organization carry on their work, are cordially invited to attend. Until then, see you Saturday night at Stanford Korsch's home.
