Two Playlets At Hadassah Joint Installation Dinner
The joint installation of the "Henrietta Szold Chapter" and the "Naomi" Chapter took place on Tuesday night, June 3rd at the Picadilly Cafe. Mrs, B. Shapiro was the chairman for the d'vening, while Mrs. AUman and Mrs. Waterman installed the new executives of hoth Chapters in a most solemn and beautiful manner.
The "Henrietta Szold" gave a very comical skit entitled "Uplifting Sadie", and a good laugh was had by all. The "Naomi" chapter presented a playlet entitled "Hadassah Husbands", which was hiunorous and inspirational.'
This is the second joint installation, and again has proven to be a huge success.
The campaign for overseas parcels . has been a great success, and while aH the goods have not been sent out as yet, to date the report is as follows: 230 lbs. packed and mailed 100 lbs. packed and ready for shipment

. Talmud Torah FT A
The monthly meeting of the Talmud Torah P.T.A. will be held on Mqnday, June 23, at the Talmud Torah. This will be the final meeting of the year, so everyone is urged to make every effort to be present. The program will be presented entirely by Talmud Torah students. The tihree bridesmaids, Misses Leonore Steiner, sister of -the bride, Carol Waller and Betty Moffatt, cousins of the bride, were all attired in heavenly blue em- , b6ssed marquisette gowns, with cloche capgs' to match, carrying bouquets qf mauve sweetpeas. All the attendants' gov/ns were boufant style, featuring sweetheart necklines and puffed sieves.
Best man was Wilfred Fink, of Toronto. Ushers were Bud Here-man, (Bert Levy, Irving Koenigs-berg, and William Zacks.
For their honeymoon motor trip to San Francisco, Carmel, Los Angeles, Mexico, New Orleans and Toronto, the bride wore an apricot dressmaker suit with black accessories. Her corsage was of talisman roses and iris.
Out of town guests were: Mr. and Mrs. Irving Fink and son Wilfred, cf Toronto, Mrs. Sidney Waller and daii^ter, Carol of San Francisco, Jitiss eBtty Moffat of Seattle and Mr. and Mrs. Sydney Levy and sons, Bert and Dennis of Victoria.
The couple will take up residence at 102 Cambridge St., Halifax.
SUB-SENIOR COUNCIL OF WOMEN
The Sub-Senior Council held a highly successful Luncheon at the Hotel Vancouver, on May' 26th.
The Presidait, Mrs. Harold Lauergave the semi-annual report. The following: Mrs. Jean Rose, Mrs. J. Diamond, and Mrs. M. !Brown spoke briefly.
Harvey and Elenore Rayman— the noted yoimg singers—gave a delightful programme of Jewish and Hebrew songs, which were thoroughly enjoyed by all those present.
Our big project of the season— the Cook Book—is coming closer to publication and the ico-operation of all the members is urged.
Teams for advertising'are being drawn up and when you are contacted to assist please do so, as the efforts of each member of Sub-Senior Coimcil is needed to make the "Book" a success.
All redpes are being sent to our Recipe Chairman, Mrs. Archie Herstem, at 5652 Balsam.
Large Audience lit Feretz School Childrens Concert
A large audience attended the second annuM concert of the VapLCOUver Peretz School. Tlie concert, was, as promised, a great success.
All agreed that the children outdid themselves in their fine performance.
The staff and the members of the school were highly enthusiastic about the results of the concert, which spoke well for the two years of activities in the Vancouver Peretz School. Thanks to the effort of the staff, supplemented by the untu-ing work of Miss Belva^Plottel, Mrs. B. Blumes and Mrs. R.'Hindin, the concert reached a high level of artistic achievement.
High points were without doubt the performance of the Kindergarten, the Russian Folk Dance and the Yiddishe Chasene. Highly commendable was the? redtation "Dos Yingle fun der Varshever Ghetto" in which an entire dass took part.
The sdiool committee wishes to take this opportimity to thank all who helped make the evening the success it was.
Youthful Singer AtAnnualDinner
Sunday, June 8, at 6:00 o'clock at the Conununity Centre the Hanita Club will again present an evening of entertainment in addition to their famous Hot Kosher Chicken Dinner under the convenorship of Edna Mos-kovitz.
Harvey Rayman, child cantor, who has been proclaimed a genius by many who have heard him will present his wor\derful repertoire of songs. Those who have heard him
will want to hear him again and those who have not, must not miss this opportimity. In addition to the young cantor, there will be a variety of talent to make this a memorable occasion.
A Sodal will follow this dinner. Last minute tickets will be avail able at the door. Come early, to avoid disappointment.
Jolson To Star In Radio Drama Of D. P. Camps
Al Jolson, outstanding singer and Comedian will appear as dram;atic narrator aixd star of documentary radio show, "Operation Nightmare."
The drama, written by Allan E. Sloane, is an attempt to describe the crisis building up in D.P. camps as. a result of the impending liquidation of U.N.RJI.A. on Jime 30.
Many Hollywood stars appear with Mr. Jolson in the presentation which will be heard over the CBS Network June^9, from 7:30 to 8:00 PJM. Eastern Daylight Time. (4:30 to 5:00 p.m. Vancouver Time).
Baruch Aeceives Brotherhood Award
NEW YORK (WNS) — The "Brotherhood Award" of the Fraternal. League of the Jewish Education Committee, annually presented to the person who has made the "most significant contribution to the promotion of human brotherhood," was this week given to Bernard Baruch for his efforts in furthering world peace.
In recognition of his leadership in post-war planning, Mr. Baruch was also made an honorary member of the Zeta Beta Tau fraternity, the largest and oldest Jewish^_^ college fraternity in America.
Jimmy Morris Recovering
The many friends of Jimm Morris, superintendant of Community Centre buili will be glad to know that he is recovering favourably from his recent fall.
B'NAI B*RITH WOMEN SEND 15 PARCELS TO DP. CAMPS
The Social held by the BW B'rith Women No. 77 last Saturday, May 31, at the Community Centre, was attended by a large representative gathering. Bridge, Mah-jong, and other card games were enjoyed, and a substantial sum was raised. This will be devoted entirely to Hillel work.
Mrs. Sara Schnider, the convenor, spared no effort in arranging, preparing and serving sumptuous refreshments.
The next meeting will take place on Jime 17th and will be the last meeting of the season. An interesting progranime is being arranged
for the occasion, and all members are asked to make a special effort tj be present.
The President, Mrs. Sophie Miller, is leaving shortly to attend the Annual Grand Lodge Convention at Fresno, California. Bon Voyage, Sister Miller!
To date 15 parcels of Baby Clothes and medicaments were sent to the Belsen Camp for Displaced persons. Below we print a letter of acknowledgement received this month:

Soap is rather a rare article with us here, and we don't get real. baby soap very often anjrway.
As we have to look after abod 520 children under 3 years alone you can perhaps imagme that the clothing problem is a fairly big one. So nice new diildren's dothes are very welcome indeed, specially now in the Springtime!

Jr. Hadassah Reports Evening Financial And Social Success
Jimior Hadassah's Box Lunch SoeiaJ, held on May 31^ was an unusually gay affair. The response to the appeal for Youth Aliyah was very heartening. Financially and socially the evening will be recorded as a success.
Credit for the success of this affair goes, of course, to the various persons who so kindly gave their time and energy to plannmg and executing the programme. Miriam Weine, convenor, and her able committee, had expertly planned the evening's entertainment.
