Enactment of a xmiversal military training measiu:e before adjournment of the present session of Congress was urged this week by Milton H. Richman of Hartford, Conn., national commander of the Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America.
Pointing out that his organization included veterans of World Wars I and 11, as well as living survivors of earlier conflicts, Mr. Richman noted that adoption of a universal training law had been advocated in resolutions passed successively by thie Jewish War Veterans at each of their annual encampments since 1934. His message voiced concern over press reports that Congress might recess without acting on recommendations of the President's Commission on Universal Military Training.
"Living American Jewish veterans of every conflict since the war with Spain have grim remembrances of the ba.ttlefield cost of inadequate training," the telegram read.

Dr. Sachar Resigns As National Director Of B. B.
WASHINGTON, D.C.: — The resignation of Dr. Afaram Sachar, Washington, D. C, as National Director of the B'nai B'rith Hillel Foundations was announced here today by Frank Goldman, president of the nation's oldest and largest Jewish service organization.
His resignation will take effect on December 31. The B'nai B'rith Hillel Commission will meet during the last week in August to consider sucessor to Dr. Sachar.
Dr. Sachar served for the past iifteen years as national director of the Hillel Foundations. His resignation came as no surprise to national B'nai B'rith leaders, for Dr. Sachar had been trying to withdraw from his position for a long time in order to devote himself to writing and lecturing.
"I know that I speak for every man and woman in B'nai B'rith," declared Goldman, "in expressing, upon Dr. Sachar's retirement, the everlasting gratitude of B'nai B'rith for the remarkable work of human engineering he has accomplished in 20 years of service on behalf of the Hillel Foundations.
"He has made a major contribution to the growth and health of American Jewish 1 ife and democratic ideals. His influence will last as long as our educated Jewish youth carry v/ith them throughout their lives the Jewish Ibyality and inspiration they received during the days of their Hillel activity—activity for which Dr. Sachar was so largely responsible.
"Our regret at his withdrawal from his position is tempered onlj by the knowledge that as a member of the National Hillel Commission he will continue to serve the Hillel movement with all the zest, energj', and unbounded ability which have always characterized him."

Mann now couples his activity in the B'nai B'rith with the American-Irish-Jewish Club of which he is a past president.
North Shore Lodge is curous to learn if its new president is the first Jew of Irish extraction to become leader of a B'nai B'rith unit. Research experts at B'nai B'rith National Headquarters, Washington, D.C., are now checking this lequest.
