Following reports on the situation of Jews in Eastern Europe, the Near East and Nortji Africa, the meeting took a number of decisions on further Congress action on current Jewish problems in these areas.
Among reports received was one on" the recent Congress mission to Poland on the re-establishment ^of an association between the \yorld Jewish Congress and the Polish. Jewish coi^un-ity. The session agreed on. further measures to develop this cooperative relationship. «
In the pourse. of the session, a delegation of the Central Board of Hungarian Jews, consisting of its President, Andreas Sos, its Vice-President Miklos Vida and Chief Rabbi Dr. Imre Beneschofsky, a member of its Executive, conferred with officers of the World Jewish Congress on,plans relating to the future relationship and cooperative action between Congress and Hungarian Jewry.
These plans, approved by-the Coordinating Conunittee, are being submitted to the Central Board in Budapest. ,.
, The session reviewed .arrangements for periodical consultations with other Jewish bodies and agreed that the first such consultation should take place in Europe towards the end of October. ,_ ^ . <

The leading member of the Van-, couver group is Prof. W, G. Elixon, recently appointed director of the School, of Social Work at the University of. British Columbia. The purpose of the Banff Workshop is to promote inter-^racial understanding and stimulate better citizenship in communities throughout western Canada through greater understanding of the cultural heritage of the many ethnic groups-, living in this country.
The Workshop is bp-sponsored Ijy Canadian Council of Christiams and Jews, Western Division; "the Citizenship Branch of the Department of Immigration and Citizferiship, the Friendship Unlimited Clubs in Cal-
gary, Edmonton and Vancouver, in cooperation with the University of Ajbeit'ta, Department of Extension. Participants in the ^ workshop will come from Alberta, Saskatchewan and ISiaifiitoba as well as British Columbia.
