Habonim Shaliach from Israel visits here
Abba Tzuriel, Shaliach of World Habonim to the American and Canadian movement arrived in Vancouver Wednesday for a week's tour of Vancouver Habonim.
Mr. Tzuriel is an educator on a Moshav in Israel and is a graduate of American and Canadian Habonim. He is visiting with Habonim groups in Western Canada and the United States on behalf of the National Executive of Habonim.
Mr. Tzuriel will conduct a daylong educational seminar for senior Habonim groups, and meet the executive leadership. He will interview senior members on plans to participate in the Habonim Youth Workshop in Israel. A number of special activities are planned for all age groups to acquaint Mr. Tzuriel with the program of Vancouver Habonim.
PIONEER WOMEN'S SHALACH MONES
Pioneer . Women's Council's Annual Shalach Mones campaign will take place from February 22 to March 9 and proceeds will go to the Pioneer Women Child Rescue Fund.

Mrs. Klousner reports o flood of telephone calls daily obout the contest, many signsffcng the desire to enter. USY oratory fontest set for February 16
The whole community is invited to attend the second Annual USY Oratory Contest on Sunday, February 16 at 1^ p.m. in the Beth Israel Auditorium.
The following teen-agers will participate in the contest:, Marsha Ablowitz, The Ideal of Religion; Joanne Donner, What is the Jewish Idea of God?; Merle Gibbs, What is Religion?; Keith Sfein, The fen Commandments; Jacqueline Toll, The Jewish Calender; Les Horowitz, What Religion Means to the Jewish People; Sheila Urist, The Teachers of our Religion.
Serving as judges are three well-known community leaders: Mrs. V. Drache, Mr. Leon Tessler and Mr. Dave Silvers.
Marilyn Mann of Chapter Beth will act as Chairman and greeting will be extended to the youth by Rabbi Bert A. Woythaler and Gordon Genser, chairman of the Youth Activities Committee.
The Annual Oratory Trophy which has been donated by Drs. Josephine and Howard Maliek, will be presented by them to the winners of the contest.
In charge of arrangements are Bob Markin and Freya Genser.
Hisfadruf pushes for resettlement
TEL AVIV — A two-month public relations drive aim^d at attracting new immigrants into Israel's collective settlements, was launched last week by the Hista-drut Department for Absorption and Development, in cooperation with the Jewish Agency.
Cabinet ministers, members of the Knesset, of the Histadrut Executive and of the Jewish Agency will address dozens' of orientation rallies at which newcomers will be briefed on the advantages afforded them by settlements in housing, employment and social services.
At present the collective settlements throughout the country can absorb 4,000 new families; 2,700 housing units have already been completed br that purpose and 2,700 additional units are under construction. Fol-owing the orientation sessions, those interested in the proposition wilt be able to visit the settlements involved
Beth Israel sponsors fireside cha^
The BeOi Israel Adult Institute of Jewish Stiidies will sponsor a series* of Fireside Chats with Rabbi Bert A. Woytfialer, during February and March on the topic, "Questions that Jewish Parents Ask".
These will be'infprmal evening to discuss with parents educatiorial and religious questions and will be held in private homes.
Each gathering will be limited, to 10 couples. Some 15 different meetings have been arranged to accommodate all the parents of the children at the Beth Israel Religious School, as well as others interested.
Dr. Barney Moscovich, Chairman of the Adult Institute, in announcing the Fireside Chats said, "We hope that these . infoiimal gatherings will help people to clarify their views and deepen their understanding of modem religious thinking and educational objectives."

SCHARA TZEDECK BREAKFAST CLUB
Eight mixed teams of adults and children and/or pupils of the Senior Grade of the Schara Tzedeck Religious School participated in a most interesting quiz contest at last Sunday's consistently popular Schara Tzedeck Prayer and Breakfast Club.
Top winner was the team of Carol Chertkow and Elaine Harowitz. Runners up v^ere Joe Sinclair assisted by Geraldine Sinclair and -Maria Jackson and Monty Greenfeld" assisted by Janice Grenfield and Roscilla Mosco-vitch.
Participants in the service were Fred Toft for the parents and Elaine Harowitz, Allairi Black'and Harry Lip-etz for the younger people. Robin Chernov was the winner for the "Real Life Story Contest" relating to the lessons taught by ,the Rabbi at the weekly Perek Class.
The Schara Tzedeck Prayer and Breakfast Club Service starts at 9^30 a.m. followed by a discussion led by Rabbi Goldenberg and a hearty breaks fast. The program this week will feature a free Bowling treat for all club members.
Membership in the club is open to all regardless of affiliation with the Schara Tzedeck,Synagogue.

Being convener of the Tu b'Shvat celebration of the Pi-oneyer Women Council, Feb. 2 in the Community Centre, I take this opportunity to express our sincere thorvks and appreciation to our main speaker, our worthy Rabbi B. Goldenberg for his inspiring speech, to Mrs. Doris Gould' for her sweet singing of Jewish folk songs and her accompanist Marge Adel-berg that made the audience so happy and also for the appeal for planting trees by Mr. D; Kroizmap.
Ou thanks to Mr. A. Arnold who is giving every undertaking in the community for Is-ael's cause great publicity and that was why we had a very successful evening selling a' large number of trees to be planted in Israel. Our thanks to everyone who came to participate iri the Tu b'Shvat cele-rotion.
