MOTHER'S DAY PARTY AT HOME FOR AGED

3CHARA TZEDECK SERVICES
Sabbath Services Saturday, May 14, at 9:00 a.m., will be marked by the Bar Mitzvah of Allah Lacterman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Lacterman. The Bar Mitzvah celebrant will Chant the Haftorah and-participate, in the service; assisted by the Jr. Choir of the Talmud Torah. Cantor Do^ Propis will chant the Liturgical Music and Rabbi Bernard Goldenberg will officiate and preach the sermon.

The class in "Mishnayos" (an introduction to the Talmud) for teenagers v.'ill meet on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the Library. The class, in Perek (Ethics of the Fathers) will be held at 7:30 p.m. Mincha Service is at 8:30 p.m. followed by Shalosh Seudos and the Maariv Evening Service.

The Bat Mitzvah'. girls will chant the Haftorah, participate in the services and will receive their charge by the Rabbi. They have all attended the Beth Israel Religious School or received equivalent Jewish educatioii for a minimum of three years which qualifies them for the ceremony. The group comprises the following: Karen Berman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. Berman; Nadine Blank, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. Blank; • Rochelle Hamer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Hamer; Beverley J a m p o 1 e, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Jampole and Judith Saltman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Salt-man.
Rabbi Bert A. Woythaler will officiate with Cantor Abraham Deutsch chanting the liturgy, assisted by the Beth Israel Choir under the direction of Mr. S. Pelman. A reception will be tendered by the parents of the Bat Mitzvah girls in the synagogue
Third Pops Conceit Tomorrow
The Greater Vancouver Pops Concert Society presents its Third Pops Concert, "Springtime in Vienna" at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, Saturday, May 14 at 8:30 p.m. In its two previous "Viennese Night" concerts, the Pops Concert Orchestra was received by near-capacity audiences, and given very favorable reviews."
Cardo Smalley will be con-certmaster, and the orchestra director will be Helmut Hoebig.
Two well-known local vocalists will be featured: Karl Norman, and Marguerite Stanlow. As an added attraction the Society will present the augmented chorus of The Greater Vancouver Operatic Society which recently presented "The Mikado".
Tickets at $1.00, $2.00 and $2.50 tax included are now on sale at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre Box Office. Phone reservations will be accepted at MU 3-2311.

Schora Tzedeck Picnic Moy 15th
The aftnual Schara Tzedeck Congregational Family Picnic co-sponsored by the Religidus School will this year take place on May 15 at Maple Grove Park, in celebration of Lag Ba'Omer.
Starting at 11 a.m. the picnic will feature a variety of races and other. competitive games, including fqther-and-son and miother - and - daughter competitions. There will be free hot dogs and pop for the kids, and winners of the various competitions will be awarded prizes.
Maple Grove Park is situated on Yew Street and Southwest Marine Drive, between 49th Avenue and Southwest Marine Drive. It offers picnic facilities, a swimming pool for the youngsters and clean rest rooms.
The youth activities committee, consisting of Morris Chernov, Azer Harowitz, Al Jackson, Israel Olin, Reuben Sinclair and David Youngson, will be assisted by president Al Joseph and members of the Men's Club and
Sam Gross and Max Poplack of the catering committee.

of workers.in campaign history. Not only are all the veteran canvassers as active as in the past but a number of new workers have become involved and several of these are proving themselves to be valuable acquisitions.
'Two veteran workers who were more or less sidelined last year due to illness but are once again actively engaged are Joe Satanov and Jack Slobin. Other veteran stalwarts who have taken great responsibility as usr ual are Sam Rothstein, M. M. Wat0rmau, Morris ^ WolocJ^ow, Dave Shugarinan, Joshua Che-cov, Abe Levison, Leon Yorsh, Moe Cohen, arid M. I. Lerman. Among the ne\y workers who have added strength to the 1960 campaign organizations are Norman Rothstein, Ed DOzar, A. Ru-denko and M. B. Schachter.
Lion's Gate Lodge, which was cited last year for its outstanding co-operation as an organization, is again playing a prominent role in the General Canvass division. Not only do the chairman and co-chairman of this division (Harry Herman and Alex Jackson) come from Lion's Gate Lodge, but approximately half of the entire general can-

YOUTH SUPPORT UJA
The youth of Vancouver hasr taken an interest in the United Jewish Appeal and is seeking voluntary contributions from its own ranks. The campus division headed by Brian Wine is active among the University students and its interim report is 51 contributions for a total of $119. A youth day is planned for Sunday, May 29 when teams of teen-agers will go out to canvass the 14 to 18 age group. The co-operation of BBYO, Beth Israel USY, Young Judaea, and Habonim has been promised. Some young people have not waited to be canvassed. Contributions have been sent in by Karen Schwartz, Judy |Glad-stone, and Hersh Rosenthal.
