Bat-Mitzvah ceremonies tonight at Beth Israel
A Bar-Mitzvah ceremony for five girls attending the Beth Israel Religious School will be held curing the Friday night services, Feb. 3 at Beth Israel svnagogue. All these girls celebrated their 13 ih birthday during the past few months and will be privileged to participate in the ceremony just as the boys become Bar-Mitzvah at this age.
The Bar-Mitzvah girls will chani the Haftorah, participate in the services and will receive their charge by the Rabbi. They have all altended the Beth Israel Religious School or received equivalent Jewish education for a minimum of three years, which qualifies them for the ceremony. The group comprises the following: Joyce Kap-len, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.
Kaplen; Sandra Kliman, daught-ei oi Mr. and Mrs. N. Kliman;j Lynne Mallin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. Mallin; Geraldine Morrio, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. i W. Morris; and Gayle Pelman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. Pel-man.
Rabbie Bert A. Woythaler will officiate wiih Cantor Abraham Deutsch chanting the liturgy, assisted by the Beth Israel Ghoir under the direction of Mr. S. Pelman. A reception will be ten-| dered by the parents of the Bat-1 IV^vitzvah girls in the synagogue i auditorium following the serv-. i ices.
Spbbath morning services will commence at .9:30 a.m., with Rabbi Bert A. Woythaler and Cantor Abraham Deutsch officiating.

Chertkow named Bond savings plan chairman
Lou D. Harris,. national chair-, man of the State of Israel Bonds, announced this, week the appointment of Icving G. Chertkow as the Vancouver chairman of the State, of Israel Bonds -Retirement Savings Plan.
In making the announcement Mr. Harris stated that it was through the efforts of Mr. Chertkow that the Department of
Annual meeting at
National Revenue gave their authorization to the plan.
As the plan is registered with the Department of National Revenue, it qualifies for tax deductions. ,
In a statement about the plan to The Bulletin, Mr. Chertkow stated: "This plan enables everyone to save for their retirement, obtain a tax benefit now, and aid the State of Israel at the same time."

Talmud Torah
The annual general meeting of the Vancouver Talmud Torah will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 8 p.m. in the Talmud Torah Auditorium, 995 West 27th Ave.
The 1961 election of officers and the submission of the yearly reports will take place at this time. Members and parents of children in attendance at the Talmud Torah are asked to attend this meeting.
