Community responds to invest in Israel Bonds
Although 1965-66 Vancouver-Israel Bond Drive was late in getting underway, an optimistic atmosphere prevails and indications are that once again the community will respond to Israel's call for economic investment assistance.
Both the general chairman, David Chertkow, and chairman of Women's Division, Mrs. Sam Gold, in a joint statement declared, "Vancouver Jewry has never failed to heed Israel's call for assistance. We are certain that this year will see the members of this community signify their solidarity with their brethren in Israel by establishing closer bonds with Israel through the sale and purchase of Israel Bonds."
In assessing the Vancouver outlook, the chairmen pointed to the number of Vancouver Jews who will redeem Israel Bonds which are maturing between now and May, 1966, and expressed the hope that all of those who will be receiving capital and interest on bonds they purchased in 1953, 1954, 1955, will reinvest in the economic future of Israel.
Playing an ever increasing and vital role in the Vancouver Israel Bond Drive are the various lodges and chapters of B'nai B'rith. B'nai B'rith, which has contributed so much to the upbuilding of Israel in all phases of activities on behalf of the country, is making its presence felt in the 1965-1966 Israel Bond Campaign not only thrcoigh purchases of Bonds but also through supplying canvassers for sales of Bonds to its menibership and to the community at large.
