B.B.W.Ch.77 Sherry tea will benefit Israel
B'nai B'rith Women Chapter 77 are mounting an oU-out fund-raising Sherry Tea which has seen schelduled for Wednesday, Sept. "13. The will be held
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Miller, 626 West 53rd Ave.
The Sherry Tea follows the zeal and inspiration which B'nai B'rith Women of Vancouver who were delegates to the recent District 4 Convention have all reported bringing back with them. Full aid and involvement on behalf of Israel were both stressed during the recent convention. Long established institutional projects were described as requiring continuing support, such as the heme for retarded children with its school and treatment centre as well as centres for the aged and U.S.O. shelter posts.
Conveners of the Chapter 77 Sherry Tea, Mesdames Jack Golden and Elizabeth Zacks, noted this week that in recognizing the emergenQr which caused Vancouver B'nai B'rith Women to empty their coffers during the period of recent crisis, many ladies of the community have already signified their support of the forthcoming tea.
The phoning committee is still busy contacting others and has asked anyone not yet called to phone 874-0502 or 261-7092, before Sept. 1;

The orchestra welcomes new members who are already fairly competent players. The only other requirement for membership is payment of the usual night school fee. One main aim of the orchestra is to provide non-professional players with the means of performing symphonic music under first rate direction.

P.W. luncheon upcoming Sept. 7
Vancouver Pioneer Women have gone on record that each year they pledge themselves to adopt spiritually children in Israel.
"At this time the need is even greater," Mrs. Clifford Margolis, Vancouver Council president and convener, Mrs. J. Kowarsky, told The Bulletin this week. They are urging all members and friends to patronize the Annual Adoption Luncheon to be held this year at Blue Boy hotel, Sept. 7, 12:30 p.m. The annual event will enable the Community to share in securing the future of Israel's war orphans.
Beba Idelson, general secretary of Moetzot Hapoalot, sister organization to Pioneer Women, has written from Tel Aviv:
"In those days of the war and in the pursuing days the problems and worries were even greater because like every war— sorrow and mourning follows and in our small land the number of dead and wounded affects us all and we share the sorrow of all the families who have suffered such great losses.
"Moetzot Hapoalot is doing all that is asked of her and even more. We would like to feel that this war has been our final war but to our regret the political war is still raging and our Airab neighbors show no desire to negotiate peace with us.
"In the meantime we still have to solve the many problems of our work. We hope that the same spirit which brought all of oiir people in the diaspora together as one, will continue at the same pace and will bring our people on Aliyah to Israel—intensifying our aims and goals in our achievements."
