Commencing at 6:15 p.m. there will be a brief service to welcome the Sabbath, and then Rabbi Wilfred Solomon will give a micro-sermon (approximately four minutes) on "A new view of ritual", inviting the congregation to dialogue with him on this subject.
Cantor Murray Nixon will chant the liturgy, assisted by Beth Israel Choir under direction of S. Pelman. Oneg Shabbat will be tendered by the Sisterhood.
A new feature will also be inaugurated this Friday night, when members of the graduating class take active roles in the Sabbath service. Students will participate by reading the opening prayers and the responsive readings, and assist the Men's Club in greeting the worshippers.

At 10:15 a.m. the Youth Congregation will join the adults in the main sanctuary and take part in the Torah reading and Mussaf service.
