GRACE
MCCARTHY
Orie of the warmest persons in public life today is youthful, energetic Grace McCarthy. A successful businesswoman in her own right, she applied her talents to the civic scene, serving actively on Vancouver's Board of Parks and Recreation for three terms.
Shortly after she entered provincial politics, her abilities were recognized by Premier Bennett who invited her to join his cabinet in 1966.
Grace is deeply involved with human projects . . . mentally retarded children, Kinsmen Rehabilitation Fund, the Salvation Army, the Canadian Brotherhood of Christians and Jews and numerous; other ethnic groups. Her continued interest is manifested in Vancouver Parks (Van Dusen Gardens, Aquarium) low rental and senior citizen housing.
Married to businessman Ray McCarthy she is a mother of two children.

PETERSON
Les Peterson has been a Vancouver MLA since 1956, a cabinet minister for 16 years. He has held the portfolio's of Education and Labour and currently as Attorney General. He is considered one of British Columbia's most vigorous and capable legislative administrators, being a proponent of some of the most innovative and progressive legislation anywhere.
Born in Alberta, he attended McGill and London Universities before receiving his Law degree from U.B.C. after serving in Britain with the Royal Canadian Artillery. Les finds time with his busy government schedule to belong to a wide number of professional and charitable associations. He enjoys an active outdoor recreational program in every season with his vivacious wife Agnes and two children.
His interest in youth is reflected in his chairmanship of the British Columbia Physical Fitness and Amateur Sports Fund.
