From the mouths of babes Kind-erlach, kosher food for thought... It may be a long time after, but there is considerable food for year-round thought for parents in the community who can ponder about the comments of some grade Seven Talmud Torah students when asked by their Judaic studies teacher Rabbi Maurice Myerowitz to write about their impressions of the High Holidays 5743 .. .
**On Rosh Hashona I feel different,^ one youngster wrote. "The Jew inside of me comes out to pray and be differeht"... A student explained: **I continued on with my prayers and everyone stared at me in bewild-ermient. Because I was so uncomfortable, I went to the children's service where no one thought it weird to pray."... And another pointed out: "There was a lot of talking—I'm not saying I never talked, but you could hear the whisper of the adulte talking without stop."... "There was a man sitting — or should I say sleeping — behind me . .."
And yet again, a youth penned philosophically: "I watched everybody sit as though they didn't understand what was going on or why they were there."... And a Russiah-bom child who exclaimed: "It is so
wonderful to befreein Canada, to be as Jewish as I want to be. For example^ 1 can go to Shul -r- and I can buy kosher food, which is something I never even thought about when I lived in Russia..."

Local recaption greets Labor Israel leader Flora Naglle
Nearly 100 persons greeted Flora Naglie, national executive-director of Canadian Assciciation for Labor Israel, at a special reception held Oct. 28 at the Centre.
Mrs. Naglie spoke to the gathering on "the exemplary work" of the Kupat Holim Hospital service during the emergency situation in Lebanon.
Stating that "one of the best kept secrets is the fine work being done by AMAL schools in Israer, she emphasized that besides providing vocational training to youngsters, the schools indirectly give their family*s increased self-esteem.
She provided an example, whereby a young Sephardi girl studied electronics against her mother's wishes —and the motherbecame the most popular person on her block because of her daughter's accomplishments.
Mrs, NagUe noted that the AMAL Aviation school in Tel Aviv is the only civilian school in Israel attached to the Air Force. She stated that an AMAL pedagogical centre will be established shortly to examine and develop new scientific technologies for use in the schools.
In 1892 in Berlin, Otto Lilienthal, a German Jew, made history's first series of controlled glidier flights, using a 44-pound machine of hisown design.
"I am proud to be associated with the vital work of AMAL", she stated, "and I hope that contributors and friends in Vancouver will carry on with the worthy efforts they have undertaken in support of this extremely worthy endeavor".
The speaker was thanked by Gene Rolingher. The reception was convened by AMAL regional director Alan Tapper and Mrs. Tapper,, along with Ruth Cooper and Miriam Mendelson, president of Vancouver Council Pioneer Women -Na^mat.
