Well-knowii B.C. artist Gertrude Zdck will exhibit some of her recent works at the Centre*s Shalom Gallery, April 12 through 26.
The showing commences Tuesday, April 12 froin 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. with, a reception open to the coni-munity. The artist ;will be in attendance and s|>eak briefly on her work..

Mrs. Zack has exhibited her watercolors« paintings^ and other art works at leading North American galleries and in Israel, drawing wide acclaim. The piece photographed here, commemorating the Peace Treaty between
Israel and Egypt, will be presented by the artist next June in Cairo to Mrs. Anwar Sadat, wife of the late Egyp-rtianpresident. - In addition to her artistic endeavors, Mrs, Zack has over the ^ears taken an active role in the community, devoting her efforts to various local, hatipnal and international causes; . "/fam«>i" was named best Israeli feature film of the year and its director Daniel Wacksman received a 230,000 Shekel prize. The film deals with the great courage df forging a Jewish-Arab" relationship in Israel and had been presented by Israel at the Cannes festival. Beth Israel's annual Jewish Music Month Concert, featuring Cantor Murray Nixon; will take place Sunday, M^reh 20, 7:30 p.m. at the synagogue.
Sponsored by the Men's Club, this year's concert will celebrate both the Gongfe- -gation's SOth anniversary and the 35th year of the State of Israel.
The program includes presentations by the Talmud Torah Choir directed by Rabbi M. . Myerowitz; BJ. Choir under Sol Pelman; and soloists^ pianist JeanhieCorsi,^ violinists Jack Shapiro, Murray Zimmerman and Lou Bevan,i;vith Philip Kushmr on percussion.

Special talents present King David Monday
An auspicious union of talents — the UBC Choral Union, Wind Symphony, and. narrator RabTii Wlift-jBreg-man—^ will depict the lifei>f a great King of Israel this ' Monday, March 21 when Arthur Honegger's King David is .presented at the' Jewish Community Centre, 8 'p.m...
When asked why the UBC musical groups are performing the worki Wind Symphony director MaiiihBerin-baum stated, "It's a masterpiece". The widely-acclaimed 20th century piece has beeir performed only once before in Vancouver.
The Choral Union, one of four choral ensembles in UBC department of music, performs choral, music from all historical periods and has presented several new Canadian works. In addition to concerts on UBC campus,' the choir has performed with Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
James Schell, conductor of Choral Union, has held positions in symphony orchestras directed by Paul Kletski, Arthur Fiedler and Sir George Sorti. He has been professor in UBC department of music since 1964.
Director of UBC Wind Symphony, Martin Berin-baum, is an internationally-known trumpet virtuoso^ He graduated from Uniyersity of Southern California and Jul-liard School, cdmpletmg his master's degree under William Vachianoiaiid Robert Nagel.
Berinbaum performed several baroque recitals at Carnegie Recital hall and gained a reputation as a specialist in baroque and trumpet music. He has appeared on national^ television and radio in the. U.S. and Canada.
In 1976 he played for the inauguration of. U^S. President Jimmy Carter.
Since moving to Vancouver in 1976, he has been active as a soloist on CBC, most recehily recording the Haydch Concerto with Jotin Elliot Gard-
iner and Orchestra.
