This year's annual community commemorative observance of Ybm HaShoah, the Day of Remembrance of the Holocaust, will mark the 50th ariniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.
Ceremonies begin at 12 noon on Sunday, April 18, when the Vancouver Holocaust Centre Society sponsors the annual Memorial Service at the Holocaust Monument at Schara Tze-deck Cemetery, 2346 Marine Dr., New Westminster.

For the first time, the annual one-day State of Israel Bonds Telethon will be extended to four.
"It's very simple," explained Varicouver executive director Alex Kliner. "We need the extra days to reach our growing database of subscribers and potential subscribers."

Oscar Jason, a Survivor of Dachau, will deliver the Survivor's Message again this year. He will speak in Yiddish and English. A member of the Y om HaShoah committee, he is also a member of the former Warsaw Ghetto Memoriai Service committee, along; with Waidman and Heller.
Claire Osipov will sing "Songs from the Ghettos," accompanied oh piano by Wendy Stuart.
Kleinmanh's address will be preceded by a special presentation by teenage participants in the 1992 March of the Living to Poland and Israel. They will be introduced by Odie Kaplan.
Introducing Kleinmann will be Arthur Pouchet, chairman of CJC's Yarn H aS hoah Com memo rati ve Committee.
Rabbi Mordecai Feuer-stein of Schara Tzedeck will deliver a - commemorative address. Kdddish will be recited by Rabbi Itzhak. M^rmorstein of Or Shalom.

The Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver's 1993 Capital Campaign begins Thursday, April 15 and continues through J une.
The campaign, which will try to raisean overall$2 million, kicks off Monday, April 19, 7 p.m. atthe JCC, announced organizers Sid-nee Bell, Beth Bogner and Roberta Mickelsbn.
"This evening will be a real eye-bpener for the many community; members who have not stepped foot in the Centre for many years," Bell comniehted.
Other components of the Capitail Campaign include a $500,000 corporate campaign, chaired by Mitchell Cropper, and $300,000 from grants and foundations.
For several years, the Bulletin has reported that the JCC's Phase III project is th e 1 arge st de ve lb pme nt undertaken in the.history of the Vancouver Jewish community.

Dymant stressed, however, that 1993 Bond dollars will specifically be used for job creation and job training.
"The new citizens of Israel have brought with them tremendous talents : of .all kinds," she said, "and these talents can bnly be tapped through meaningful and relevant erhployment opportunities." ^

Funds raised to date will be sufficierit to complete Phase Ill's first and second stages — the north portion, said Averbach. The 1993 cartipaign arid future fundraising will help finance the third and fourth stages, sched uled for costriictibTi later this year. . The first stage of cbri-strtietiori, slated fbr July completion, will see a wide range of facilities in place, including new weight training facilities, a dance arid aerobics studio, a portion of the Isaac M. Waldman Public Library, new JCC and communal agency administrative offices, and a portion of the Vancouver Holocaust Exhibit Centre.
