It is with regret that we announce the passing of Mr. Butka, father of Mrs. Ivy Bale, well-known member of the North Arm Fraser River Local Auxiliary.
Mr. Butka died Saturday, April 20th, and was buried at the Mountain View cemetery on the 25th.
Our sincere sympathies are extended to Mrs. Bale in her sad bereavement.
Sister Cogswell Sick
Friends of Mrs. Gus Cogswell were very sorry this week to learn of her illness due to gas from a leaking exhaust.
It is believed that she had a very severe attack but is recovering nicely. Her daughter, Bernice, has been home staying with her during her illness.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Mrs. Cogswell.

Sunbury W. A: Plan Dance
The presence of the president, Mamie Oja, was missed at the last meeting of the Sunbury W.A. held at the home of Mrs. Mackie on April 30th. Mamie has gone to work at New Westminster.
Plans were laid for a big dance under the auspices of the W.A. on May 18th, in the Sunbury Community Hall, and it is. hoped and expected that it will be a big success. A special meeting is being held May 14th at the home of Mrs. Maunus to make final preparations for the dance.
Two baby girls were born recently in the community to Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Neave and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Waterman.
The next regular meeting of the W.A. will be held on May 21st at the home of Mrs. Alton but members are urged not to forget the special meeting on the 14th.
News Of Gibson's Landing W.A.
Even if you have not heard from us for some time, we are carrying on nevertheless. In February we sponsored a social in aid of the C.L.D.L.; in March the W.A. helped the P.C.F.U. with their dance. It was a howling success; well-attended, plenty of eats and a. good time. On May 1st a whist drive was held in aid of the Ad-cate Press drive.
We have had two new members lately and are in hopes of getting another soon.
We hear occasionally from our first President, Mrs. E. Maylin, at Owen Bay. She is always gla3 to hear news of our W.A.
We are looking forward to a visit from Vancouver W.A. in the near future.

Van. WA Hold Farewell Party For Mrs.Gavin
The Vancouver W.A. and friends held a farewell party in honor of Mrs. Alice Gavin on Thursday, April 25th, at the home of Mrs. V. McCrae.
An enjoyable evening was spent playing court whist.
On behalf of the W.A., Mrs. Agnes Hill, President, presented Mrs. Gavin with a gift. The Gavin family will be leaving for Cortez Island this week and the ladies of the W.A. are indeed sorry to lose such a sincere and active worker as Mrs. Gavin.
However, the best of good wishes are extended to the family in their new home and it is the hope of all their many friends that Lady Luck will smile favorably on them in the years ahead.
At the last meeting of the Vancouver W.A., we were pleased to welcome Mrs. Ruth Gee to our midst as a new member. After a short meeting some of the members hied themselves off to help decorate the fishermen's float for May Day.
The Women's Slogan on the float was "Fishermen's Wives, Unite !"
Cogsweil-Corlett
Well, it seems Dan Cupid shows no partiality to anyone. He finally even pierced Hairy Corlett's tough sk'u. He made a direct hit, too, and Harry is now running around with "that look about him."
Of course, it takes two to ao the job right and that's where Bernice Cogswell came in. When those two came around the office the look about them gave it all away. They looked just like two kids who had stolen some jam. However, everybody is very happy about the whole thing. We've all thought lor a long time that Harry shouldn't be running around loose.
Oh, by the way, the big event was staged in Powell River on Monday, April 15th. It should hava been in the last issue of our paper but the Editor hadn't got over the surprise enough by that time to write about it
You see, we had been hounding Harry for news every time he came around the office so finally says Hariy to himself, I'm going to make news—and he sure did.
Well, all we can say is Good Luck, Happiness and Congratulations to you both. May the Sea of Matrimony never have a ripple on it.
Local No. 5 flakes Presentation
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gavin were the recipients of a very useful farewell gift from No. 5 local and W.A. this Saturday.
The gift was a large box of groceries made up by members of the local and W.A. The Gavins expressed their extreme pleasure upon being presented with the gift. They expect to leave Vancouver Tuesday or Wednesday this week.
