TIMMINS, Ont., (CJN) - -nie Northern communities of Timmins, KlritlandlJEjce and Rouyn-Noranda met at the annual dinner of the Northern Chevra Ka-disha held at the B'nal Israel Synagogue, Timmins,. on Sunday evening, June 11.
The guest speaker at this outstanding function, attended by over 120 members of the .three communities, was Mr, Meyer W. Gasner, chairman/ Central Be-gloo, Canadian Jewish Congress. Jewish re^dents of the adjacent towns of Kapuskaslng, Codi-rane, South Porcupine, Schu-maker, Ansonvllle, Kirkland Lake, 'Sr giebart, and La Sarre, attended. Jack J. Helpert of Timmins, was chairman of the function.

Rabbi Walter S. Wurzburger, spiritual leader of the Shaarel Shomaylm Congregation • was elected President of the newly formed Rabbinical . Council of Canada (a branch of the Ral^-nlcal Council of Amerlrai), which was founded at a special convocation held In Montreal. This marks the firsit time that an or-gahlzatlon representing Rabbis throughout the Dominion has been formed.

A group of aviation writers, flyers and others who witnessed the departure of Lindbergh's non-stop New York-Paris, flight In 1927 have been inylted by El Al Israel Airlines to attend a dinner at Idlewlld International Airport on the evening of June 15, just prior to departure of El Al's first non - stop jet to Tel Aviv. The New York - Israel flight Is the longest non-stop, regularly scheduled, coirmerdai '. route in aviation history.
The New York-Tel Aviv nonstop jet, a Boeing 707-420, powered by Rolls-Royce engines, carrying 100 passengers, indudlng crew, covers 5,760 statute miles in 10 hours and 56 mlnutas. The flight departs from Idlewlld every Thursday at 8.30 pan., E.S.T. and arrives in Israel at 2.25 p.m. on Friday afterooon, Tel Aviv time.
