"When millions of Jews were led to the slaughter they were the beneficiaries of sympathy but no one lifted a finger to save them . . . we do not want sympathy for murdered Jews but understanding for Jews fighting for their national existence."
Speaking here, Begin said the attack in Athens was carried out by "two Arab Nazis" and was aimed at burning alive the 40 civilians inside the plane. In the announcement made after-

sterdaiti Protestant newspaper, raised more than $15,000 in a fortnight for the Christian kibbutz of Nes Ammin in Israel's Galilee region. The money will be used to build bungalows for young people.
Nes Ammin was founded in 1961 by Dutch, German and Swiss Christians with the object of "puttingChristianity into practice among the Jewish people by helping to build Israel."
At that time there were many objections by people in Holland and Israel who were concerned that the kibbutz might be a cover for missionary activities. Now a number of the members of the organizing committee have been converted to Judaism.
RELIGIOUS NAHAL E^ABLISHES FIRST SETTLEMENT
Tel Aviv (JCN^.- It is 6 years since the first group of yeshiva students decided to join the Israeli Defense Forces for service in the ranks of a special religious unit of Nahal — Fighting Pioneer Youth.
They volunteered for service despite the special privileges accorded yeshiva students and girls from religious homes freeing them from the obligation of serving in the Forces..
Since those days, some 600 youngsters, members of Young Agudat Israel, have fulfilled their service in such special units. Last week 32 veterans of religious Nahal units and many other religious youngsters now doing their military service settled in what will become the first purely industrial mo.^ ii-av in Israel, and the firsi settlement of the religious Nahal.
The settlement is 40 miles south of Tel Aviv in the La-chish area near Komemiut, the moshav of Agudat Israel. The name of this newsettle-ment is Kiriat Hanoar Ha-haredi. It is a unique settlement for more than one reason. There are no girls and the only women present axe the wives of 11 Nahal veterans. The settlement has no land for agriculture and will have to subsist on industry only. A plant for industrial diamonds is already beginning to function.
MOSCOW EXTENDS HATE WAR IN AFRICA
London(JCNS).-Moscow'is purpose in broadcasting allegations in its African service that Israel is sterlizing West Bank Arabs with the aid of Nazi doctors now has been revealed. The transmissions have been followed up by strong attacks on African countries which "take a benevolent attitude towards the aggressor."
The Moscow commentator particularly criticized the recent .visit to Israel by a delegation from Mauritius, headed by Satcam Boolell, which "found nothing better than to express admiration for Israel's successes and, in pai-ticular, its successes on the battlefield."
This could be ignored, the broadcast continued, were it not that other African nations took a friendly attitude towards Israel, among them Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Madagascar, Ghana and Congo (Kinshasa).
Admittedly, said the com^ iiientator, the African leaders who attended the September session of the Organization of African Unity only passed an anti-Israel resolution after some argument and with some delay, "but, nevertheless, ttiey did pass such a resolution because it reflects the interests of the people of their countries."
The fact that Israel had gpne "unpunished", declared the broadcaster, encouraged "the racialists and colonialists in the south of Africa to instigate dangerous provocations against the Indeiwndent countries of the continent. In view of all this, it should be obvious to all that woning the Israeli ag-
gressors inflicts direct injury to free Africa, . .''
BLACK POWER LEAFLET HITS AT ZIONISTS
New York (JCNS).-A leaflet headed "Shanker: This is not Egypt - You Ain't Coming in Here" was circulated in Harlem recently to call for a mass meeting against the United Federation of Teachers, the union which Albert Shanker heads. The leaflet was circulated by the Tenants Rights Party led by Jesse Gray, a black militant.
"Zionists kill black people in their own land in the Middle East," the leaflet began. "They run the people out of their own communities. Now here Shanker is trying to use the same tactics and throw us out of our own community."
The leaflet and the rally it announced called for "community control" of the schools by the people of Harlem, a stand the UFT opposes.
The leaflet continued, "Our children will be educated in the way we, the parents, feel they ought to be educated and not the way racist Zionists tell us . . . Harlem will not stand by while these racist, ruthless Zionist bandits, (Shanker and the UFT) and his puppet, the police, run us out of our own communities."
The American Jewish Congress, reacting to the leaflet, called upon black community leaders "to repudiate the blatant resort to racial and religious hatred" contained in the broadside. He described it as "a scurrilous falsehood designed to arouse hostility and bitterness."
Will Maslow, Congress executive director, expressed confidence that the views in the leaflet did not represent any significant number of Harlem residents but only those of an "extremist fringe group".
Benjamin R. Epstein, the national director of the Anti-Defamation League, referring only indirectly to the leaflet, urged Jews to recognize that "authentic voices in the Negro community speak with responsible mil-itance and reject rabid extremism." Jesse Gray and his party did not represent the true voice of the black community, he said.
SCHOOL LEAVING AGE
. Jerusalem, (JCNS). - Israel's school leaving age is to be extended to 16 years. This extra two-years' free compulsory ieducation was decided upon by the Cabinet.
Describing it a "security move". Prime Minister Esh-kpl said: "We depend for our existence on quality against our enemies' vastly superior, numbers. As we give more, education, we give niore Jewishness...
"Our forefathers gave their all in order to secure education for their children. We, today, also must make this financial sacrifice."
Eshkol also said that the provision of rtore education would encourage a. higher birthrate. ,
The Cabinet is to introduce a Bill promptly and it wants the Knesset to enact legislation within the next
wards in Beirut it.was stated explicitly that the aim had. been to "destroy the EL Al plan,e" a feat impossible without slaughtering the passengers as well. . '
"He.said the Arab nations bore responsibility for the "Nazi murder actions" of the Fatahj giving the latter arms, money, shelter and encouragement. Their joint aim is to destroy every Jew insiafar. as he is a Jew. By every rule of international law -- including the Soviet draft proposal defining aggression — any state from whose territory an armed group acts against another slate, bears fullresponsibil-' ity for that group, concluded Begin.

TWO HANGED IN JORDAN AS SPIES FOR ISRAELIS
Amman, Jordan.- Two men convicted ofspying for Israel '. were hanged here last week, the Government announced. » They were Zahran Youssef Ismail Kharroub, 49 years old, m Sublii Abdel Hafiz Abdullah Kharroub, 39. Both were from tlie village of Habla, on the Israeli-occupied west bank of the Jordan River.
Maj. Abdel Raouf Alxiin, the military prosecutor, said in a statement that flicf accused had confessed s^iying for Israel since 19G'l.
Meanwhile, a Jordanian
closed the discovery of manuscript evidence of the existence of a center of Jewish learning and culture in Rouen, once the capital of Normandy in France, ' in the Middle Ages.
In reporting to the American Academy of Jewish Research at its 41st annual meeting. Professor Golb concluded from the manuscript findings that the learning and culture of the Jews- of medieval England depended strongly upon that of Rouennaise Jews in Rouen. . He said the major intellectual activity at Rouen appeared to have occurred during tlie llth and 12th centuries, altiioiigh it may hav^ originated as far back as Carolingian times (8th century).
