■ The J ewish commu-nity of Toronto has flourished financially as well as culturaHy and spiritually yet there seems to be a distinct lack of expression of this; in the number of Jewish 'restaurants in the City. TVtore-so the selection of kosher restaurants is so limited
thaf the number can be counted on one or (possibly) two hands.
The selection uptown where the majority of the Jewish population is nestled is strewn with memories of many faiI-ures in the wasteland of Jewish culinary busi-:.ness/^ ..
However, Moishe's Chinese Restaurant has managed to light the
darkened history with the restaurant's original initiative to yield a pleasant and special dining experience.
Moishe Hassan,-pro-prietpr, was born in Montreal and after
came to Toronto. When questioned regarding his decision to open the restaurant Hassan ex* plamed: "I always
heard people complaining that they^had ho place to eat and some even-using it as an excuse to eat 'treif and I felt that it would be a challenge and helpful idea to offer the community, a different (kos her)re s t a u ra n t serving Chinese food as well as a variety of other
The restaurant sits
comfortably i n a central Jewish location on Wilson near Bathur^t (361 Wilson Ave.): The flou-rescent sign along with the authorization that the restaurant is strictly kosher is very attractive, to those passing

Many pedple find comfort in the^ op^r-tunity to have a takeout order available to-them from any of the foods on the niehu and the attractive Chinese; t.v. dinners.
The atmosphere is welcoming as one, enters the semi-lit room; Moishe is usually on hand to welcome his guests and find them a suitable table.
Most people choose from the interesting variety of Chinese foods, curious about
the niany gastronomical delights previously unheard of and now available in a strictly kosher setting.
r Dinner for two- including soup, egg rolls and a variety of Chinese foodr costs approxi,-mately $15; there is alwaiys a variety of French pastries on hand for the diner with the sweet tooth.
Moishe's Chinese Food has been granted a liquor license which will be effective shortly — A very nice way to drink a "Lechayim'' for the restaurant's second anniversary!
