During the past few years, the council has been "relatively inactive" and run by only a few key people, Levine said. "We hope to expand that to in-: volve many people."
He said he hopes to pursue the goals in memory of Bernie Vigod, a prominent Frederictoh community leader and council vice-president, who was killed in a car collision on his way to the recent council meeting (CJN Nov. 10).

Ancient Yemenite tune hits pop charts in Que.
MONTREAL -
Incredible as it seems, an ancient religious song of the Yemenite Jews sung by an Israeli singer has hit the pop music charts of Quebec.
Im Nin'Alii. sung by Ofra Haza, is a 16th century song that has been set to a disco dance beat, but the ancient Hebrew lyrics have been retained. Haza's latest album, Sha-day, which features the song recently hit 16th on the Quebec pop charts.
Other tunes on the album are divided about evenly between English and ancient Hebrew.
The record has been a hit elsewhere in North America. <is well Europe and even Kuwait. Haza said in
an interview during a re-ceht stop in Montreal.
Haza; 30, has been a. popular recording artist in Israel thoughout the 1980s, and two years started to be-come known internationally.
After recording the traditional version of Im Nin'AIu for her Yemenite-bom parents in 1984, she decided to do it disco style as a means of bringing the music to the young.
The song was written by a great Yemenite Jewish poet. Rabbi Shalom Shaba-zi, while his people were in exile, she said. "It says even if the doors of the generous become locked, the doors of heaven never are." ■
