TORONTO IRISH MOURN MIKE DUKE
Toronto's Irish community lost one of its most energetic, enthusiastic and popular activists and a loving family lost a devoted husband and father on February 6, when Mike Duke (48) died suddenly at his home. His early death left the community here in a state of shock.
Mike was a founding mem-
ber of the Irish Canadian Cultural Society, a veteran of the impecunious early days when the society didn't even have a homes.
He was a tireless worker for the Irish community and his advertising sales skills were instrumental in keeping the Toronto Irish News afloat over the years.
Announcing Mike's death on
his weekly radio show, Radio Erin, Frankie Benson said it was the hardest thing he's ever had to do on the air. "I didn't know Mike that well, but what I did know of him, he was an angel... An angel," said Benson.
Mike leaves a wife, Dorothy (nee Daly) and two kids, Michelle and Sean.

Become A Founder Bondholderwith Scotland's Newest
Single Malt Distillery
I have spent a lifetime in the whiskey industry and always, my dream was to create a new single malt.
This dream is now about to be realised at Lochranza, where we are building the first legal distillery on the Isle of Arran for over 150 years.
What will Isle of Arran single malt be like? It has been said that when whisky was last made on the island all those years ago, it was claimed to be the best in Scotland.
With the quality of Arran's air and water, I am confident that we will be making one of Scotland's great malts and I invite you to reserve your stock now, by becoming a Founder Bondholder.
Founder Bondholders will have their own Founders' Reserve which, as well as being exclusive, will be obtainable at distillery prices - no retailers or other distributors involved. For the Bond price of 450 pounds, excluding duty, they will receive 5 cases of blended whisky in 1998, and 5 cases of Arran single malt in the year 2001 - the perfect way to start the new century!
Founder Bondholders will also become members of our Isle of Arran Malt Whisky Society which will bring additional advantages, including the continuing privilege of buying whisky at distillery prices.
