MARY DALY has 14 children, 53 grandchildren and over 100 great-grandchildren. Now 80 years old, she still travels visiting her children scattered around the world
sometimes you marry people and they have the same love they have for you for everyone else, as different ones comes in. They smile at everybody the same and you don't know who they like, you know what I mean?
CB: That's right yes.
MD: You have to be very sure.
CB: Yes. Do you think that women should nave to stay in bad marriages if. they are being abused?
MD: No they shouldn't. They shouldn't. Get away, and teach them a lesson anyway and let them see that they are not going to stick it. The people in Ireland now won't stick to it like that.
They did years ago, my mother did have a hard life too. But I'll tell you, today the young people are not going to.
The young girls, even my granddaughters now that are married — if the fellas are not good to
them, they won't stick it. They have good fellas, working for a living and all.
They travel and have big vans and lovely cars and trailers but the least thing they do, my granddaughters are gone to the battered wives'. They won't put up with their ways and that is the right way.
CB: It is the right way because you have to have respect for yourself.
MD: You have to have respect for yourself. Now, I often got people telling me when I wasn't so old, "oh, you'll marry again" and there was a nice fella with a house and he was a single old man but I said "not at all, I had enough of men." And all my life now, its my soul I'm thinking of.
CB: Yes, your soul.
MD: What about my soul, if I don't look after it now. Well, I
f>ray a lot and I try to go to mass, 'm not saying I m holy. But I
have a picture on the wall at home in Ireland with the perpetual suffering. It is a dark picture, and I can see the face of our Lord coming out in that picture.
Inside the picture, when I had the fall and it was very bad there last year, I seemed to face the crown of thorns. It is still there and I hope it is there when I go back. I said I can see it now. You hold on to it and pray to it and you will see that face. Honest to God.
CB: Well, I know you said that you don't think that you have, but you obviously have psychic powers.
MD: Yes.
CB: You know in the world of today the blessed Virgin has appeared?
MD: I had a tape of her talking to the woman in Ireland. I got a lot made and gave it around. A lady
