Former Irish Footballer Honoured in Dundalk
JACK BELL (L) proudly accepts his award from Terry Maher, the Chairman of the Louth County Board.
EDMONTON - Jack Bell, who is now based in Edmonton, Alberta, was recently presented with a Millennium Trophy at the Fairway Hotel in Dundalk, Count}- Louth. The trophy was presented by Terry Maher, the Chairman of Louth County Board as part of the county's millennium celebrations.
Louth's Millennium Committee selected the "best team to represent the county," as part of the celebrations to honour all of those who played football for their county through the years.
A selection committee originally chose 75 and then narrowed it down to 15 by vote. When Jack Bell was elected Right Full Back on Louth's Team of the Millennium, he was flown back to Ireland by the committee for the night of honours.
Bell proudly wore the number two jersey for Louth in two All-Ireland semi-finals and in the only National League contested by Louth.
RENAE ARTHUR of Airdrie, Alberta, training to run the Dublin Marathon to raise funds in the fight against arthritis.
Running the Dublin Marathon
CALGARY, Alberta - Renae Arthur of Airdrie, Alberta, has undertaken a personal challenge of physical endurance to make a difference in her community.
Renae has joined the Arthritis Society's "Joints in Motion Training Team," and will take part in the Dublin, Ireland marathon on October 30. She is committed to raising 85,000 by August 4 for the Arthritis Society, and is running in honour of her mother, who is suffering from arthritis.
The Arthritis Society is the only not-for-profit voluntary health association seeking the cause, prevention, and cure for all types of arthritis. More than four million Canadians have arthritis. This is one in every seven people!
Many of us know someone suffering from this debilitating disease and wish there was some way we could help to ease their pain and find hope for a cure.
We can help, by making a tax deductible donation by August 4, and support Renae Arthur in her unselfish endurance event and one which will also benefit us or someone we love.
Make your cheque payable to The Arthritis Society and send it to Renae Arthur at RR#2, Airdrie, Alberta, T4B 2A4.

Of
Dreams
The Scottish Rugby Union is pressing ahead with plans for a conference and exhibition centre, a major hotel and a leisure complex on 40 acres of land beside the Murrayfield Stadium. It would be one of die largest projects ever seen in Edinburgh and would allow the SRU to clear off its debts - and maybe even reduce ticket prices.
There are a number of hurdles to be overcome - including objections from local residents - before the scheme could obtain planning approval. But early indications are that the City Council are positive towards die scheme.
