The Most Successful Classical Crossover Artiste from Ireland
MAPLE RIDGE - The Celtic Tenors have established themselves as the most successful classical crossover artists ever to emerge from Ireland.
In 2000, following an impromptu audition at EMI in London, The Celtic Tenors were signed on the spot to an international record deal, a highly unusual event that was the talk of the music industry.
The Celtic Tenors' fifth album is due for release pre-Christmas. Recorded in the Hollywood Hills, this new album is a collection of songs from North America, by songwriters including Stephen Foster and Bob Dylan.
Essentially a roots album with rich harmony driven songs, Celtic Tenors, Daryl, James and Matthew were privileged to work with the Grammy-winning team of Steve Lindsey, Dillon O'Brien and Dave Way.
The Celtic Tenors continue to re-invent the whole tenor idiom by pioneering a new style of 'cool' never before seen on the classical stage and by breaking the traditional stuffy tenor mould.
THE CELTIC TENORS
While each of The Celtic Tenors have been influenced by the musical traditions from their own individual parts of Ireland, Daryl, James and Matthew show great flexibility in melding their voices to suit the appropriate classical, folk, Irish and pop genres.
With total album sales worldwide of
over one million and a full international touring schedule, The Celtic Tenors have topped the charts in the U.S, Canada, Germany, the UK and Ireland.
The Celtic Tenors' live show is an experience overflowing with vitality and variety from start to finish.
The unique voices, charm and wit of Daryl, James and Matthew, combined with talented young Musical Director Colm Henry, combine an emotive journey with a thoroughly uplifting experience.
Equally at home performing to large festival crowds or intimate concert halls and theatres, and whether backed by a live band, symphony orchestra, solo piano, or even acapella, their voices and personalities always shine through alongside their undeniable Celtic charm.
Catch The Celtic Tenors in concert at The ACT Arts Centre & Theatre in Maple Ridge on October 30 at 8 PM.
Tickets are $38 for adults and $32.50 for seniors. Purchase the pre-show reception package and enjoy a glass of wine and hors d'oeuvres before the show.

Delta Police Recruit Tiller's Folly
VANCOUVER - Tiller's Folly, a band steeped in the tradition of Celtic and Canadian folk music, is joining the Delta Police -Pipe Band, that is.
The group will headline the band's third annual Celtic Gala on October 29 at the South Delta Baptist Church, 56th Street, Tsawwassen.
The concert, starting at 7:30 PM, promises a variety of Celtic music from the group, the Delta Police Pipe Band, Clarion Creations Highland Dancers and the Delta Community Choir, with its youth choir, Tapestry.
This is not the first time that Tiller's Folly has been involved with the police as they were commissioned to write a song by the village of Kinlochbervie, Scotland, to commemorate their local hero, Robert McBeath, VC.
After the First World War, McBeath immigrated to Canada and was a serving member of the Vancouver Police Department when he was fatally shot while making an arrest at the corner of Davie and Granville on October 9,1922.
The concert is a fundraiser for the internationally acclaimed Delta Police Pipe Band which has many national and international military tattoos to its credit, as well as standing invitations to tattoos in Russia, Scandinavia, Europe and Australia.
Their scheduled overseas trip for 2011 is to the prestigious Windsor Castle Royal Tattoo, England, in May.
TILLER'S FOLLY: a band steeped in the tradition of Celtic and Canadian folk music.
The staccato drum cadence has become an audience favourite and dueling bagpipes will feature Piper David All on the traditional pipes and Piper Zhongxi Wu on the Chinese suona, a wind instrument with similar characteristics to bagpipes, but without the bag!
ROBERT MCBEATH
This invitation is particularly pleasing as it is the band's 40th anniversary.
Travel expenses for the band's 50 members who will be participating, are paid for by the band and the individual members. On arrival in the host country it is usual for all expenses to be met by the host.
A stone cairn was built in Kinlochbervie, Scotland to commemorate Robert McBeath.
You can expect an interaction between the various acts and specialty items from elements within the pipe band.
The audience can be guaranteed an enjoyable evening of Celtic variety, continuing the Delta Police Pipe Band tradition of presenting first-class entertainment at a very reasonable cost.
Tickets for the concert are $25 and available from the following retail outlets from September 10: Ladner: Grapes-4-U, 150-4857 Elliott Street; Tsawwassen: My Party Rentals, 5666 - 12th Avenue; White Rock: Celtic Treasure Chest, 1534 Foster Street, White Rock; Vancouver: Celtic Treasure Chest, 5639 Dunbar Street; Delta: Celtic Treasure Chest, #14 - 7550 River Road (opposite the Husky service station).
Tickets may also be pre-purchased through www.ticketweb.ca and
ordered by phone at (604) 940-5040.
