Bnai Brith
A largely attending meeting of the Bnai Bnth Lodge took place Thursday evening, November 8, in the Travellers' Building. This meeting was open to the members, their wives and friends, it being the first time that a business sessioci has ever been held by the Lodge in public. Federated Budget News
The plans for the Federated Budget campaign which is to take place irom November 20 to 23 are well under way. The various Jewish institutions have formed committees which have been appointed on the Central Jewish Campaign Committee. Representing the Jewish Orphanage and Children's Aid of Western Canada are Mr. M. H. Levin-son, Mr. L. H. Levi, Mr. L. Davis and Mr. D. Spivak. Old Folk's Home representatives are Mr. S. Cossoy, Mr. E. Greenberg and Mrs. S, Gold and Mr. A. Slobinsky. Mr. B. Levinson and Mr. S. Goldin represent the United Hebrew Relief. In addition to these the following organizations are joining the Central Committee for the purpose of giving their service in the campaign. The Montefiore Club under the leadership of their President, Mr. Chas. Smithen; the Independent Order of Bnai Brith under their President, Mr. Max Stein-kopf; the I.O.B.B. Summer Camp under the leadership of Mr. L. Rice; Hebrew Sick Benefit Society under Mr. L. Booke; Talmud Torah under Mr. H. E. Goldin and the Y.M.H.A. under Mr. A. E. Cantor, along with various other organizations which are forming committees to take part in the campaign. The Talmud Torah derives no benefit from the Budget, and an arrangement has been come to, so that the Budget Campaign Committee will continue its existence after the Budget drive is completed, and will arrange a campaign for the Talmud Torah, to take place a couple of weeks after the Budget campaign is over. The Talmud Torah has a staff of excellent teachers who are educating about 350 children free of charge, and another 150 who pay a very small fee. This organization does splendid work. It is well worth the support of the public.

Sunday evening, November 4, saw the commencement of a series of congregational get-together suppers which will be held under the auspices of the Sister; hood of the Beth Sholim Congregation. The arrangements of the first affair were carried out under the joint convenorship of \ rs. R. M. Frankfurter and Mrs. Harry Grossman, assisted by Mrs. H. Ganeske, Mrs. J. J. Korman, Mrs. Max Kofsky. Mrs. E. D. Mitchell and Mrs. S. L. Goldstine. The following are those who assisted at the tables: Misses Be mice Stem, Cynthia Rosenthal, Evelyn Rosenthal, Sara Finkelman, Rita Druxerman, Marion Korman, Leah Rosner and Roselle Berger. It is the intention of the Sisterhood to try to hold these suppers monthly. About 135 guests attended, the tables being very prettily adorned with Sowers and plants. Following supper Mr. Sidney Goldstine, president of the congregation, addressed the gathering, thanked tbera for their co-operation, and expressed the wish that their support would continue throughout ad the undertakings of the congregation, at the conclusion of which he introduced Mr. . A. Monday evening, November 5, the Young People's Society held a dance and social evemngin the class-rooms of the synagogue. During the course of the evening the President, Dr. Dave Isaacs, gave a abort talk. Later in the evening refreshments were served, and dancing resumed. On Wednesday evening, November 21, another social evening will be held.
A joint service will be held o^uring Chanukah, conducted entirely by the children of the Hebrew School and Sunday School, of the Beth Sholim Congregation. Preparations are under way. The members of the Sisterhood will provide goodies for the children.

Satisfactory reports were given from the various committees, and the Budget Board Committee are making plans to assist in the city campaign which will take place this month.
