for years. Pinski, who left to address a group in Ottawa on Thursday evening, will return to Montreal in time to read his play "Three" at the Prince Arthur Hall on Friday evening. "Three" which was written within the last two years, has been translated into English, and will be played on the English stage in New York very shortly. The playwright will read another of his newer dramas called "The Last Figure" on Sunday evening at the Prince Arthur Hall. He will lecture on Yiddish literature and drama on Saturday night in the same hall. After the lecture, he will be the guest of honour at a banquet tendered by the Peretz Schule. The pupils of the Peretz Schule are planning a reception at the Globe Theatre in his honour on Sunday morning.

Although the final returns are still incomplete, about $500 was realized at the bridge held in the Ball room of the Mount Royal Hotel on February 13, under the auspices of the Jewish Immigrant Aid Society. Cards were played at 185 tables, and over 1,000 guests were present at this bridge which was the largest of its kind ever held in Montreal. Credit is due the convenor, Mrs. V. S. Hart, Assisting Mrs. Hart were committee members: Mrs. J. Levinson, Mrs., D. L. Cohen, Mrs. J. D. Kuppenheimer1, Mrs. J. Kellert, Mrs. Presner and the following: Mrs. L. Samuelsohn, Mrs. I. A. Kauffman, Mrs. J. Fraid, Mrs. Lyon Cohen, Mrs. Harry E. Davis, Mrs. P. Hoffman, Mrs. Joseph Cohen. Mrs. Max Vilinsky, 2533 Park Avenue, won the watch which was raffled.

KNIGHTS OF PYTHIAS
The sixtieth anniversary diamond jubilee of the Syracuse Lodge, K. P., took place in the Mount Royal Hotel on February 20. Brother Lyon W. Jacobs spoke on "The Lighter Side of an Alderman's Job." The guest speaker was J. Albert McClean, the oldest member of the Order in Montreal.
Calanthe Lodge Institued
Pythian Sisters, to be known as the Calanthe Lodge, were instituted as such at a meeting at the Mount Royal Hotel on February 25. Mrs. McGill, the Calanthe Most Excellent Chief of the State of New York installed the officers and addressed them on the "Ideals of the Pythian Sisters." Mrs. McGill and several other visiting Calanthes who arrived in Montreal on Monday were entertained by the local lodge. On Monday afternoon they were taken around the mountain - in sleighs and afterwards entertained at tea at the home of Mrs. M. M. Kander, P^splanade Avenue. Assisting Mrs. Kander in receiving the guests were Mrs. S. H. Feldman, Mrs. S. G. Bendon, Mrs. G. R. Payne, Mrs. Dan Rosenthal and Mrs. A. L. Belasco.
HADASSAH
The Daughters of Judaea held a special meeting February 18 at the home of Miss Claire Firestone to sew novelties for the Fancy Fair to be held at the Mount Royal Hotel on March 11 and 12. The members will act as pocket-maids during "Two Days in Palestine." Refreshments. The Daughters of Judaea held a social at the home of Miss Sara Rosenthal on February 16. About 40 played games for prizes.
LILLIAN FREIMAN CHAPTER
A joint meeting of the Hatekivh Chapter and the Lillian Freiman Junior Chapter of Hadassah was held on Monday evening, February 18, at the Zionist headquarters. Regular business was dispensed with for the evening and the meeting given over to a shower for the bazaar, at which the two chapters will take charge of the Gift Shop. After a musical programme, the guest of honor, Rabbi Zlotnik, spoke oh "Philology and Zionism."

The Young People's League of tie New Adath Jeshurun held a musicale at the home of Mrs. Rabinovitch, 182 St. Joseph Blvd. West, on February 21. The speakers were Mr. Rabinovitch, who spoke on the "History of Jewish Music",-Rabbi L. A meeting of the Ladies' Auxiliary took place at the home of Mrs. M. Carsley, Villeneuve West, with Mr*. Berger in the chair, on February 26. Rabbi Berger gave his second talk on Jewish ceremonies. Miss Kramer recited. The next meeting takes place at ihe home of Mrs. Goldner, 1700 Hutchison Street, on March 4.
The semi-annual dance of the Mac-cabaean Zionists was held on Wednesday evening, February 20, at the Bnai Jacob Synagogue. The dance committee was: Messrs. J. Goldenberg, chairman; H. SPANISH AND PORTUGUESE SYNAGOGUE BAZAAR
Members of the executives of the Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue, the Sisterhood, and the Young People's Society met at the home of Capt. and Mrs. S. W. Montefiore, 4331 Western Avenue, on February 21, to arrange plans for the bazaar which will be held in the Windsor Hotel in October, to raise money for the Building Fund of the Synagogue. Those present at the meeting were: Capt. S. W. Montefiore, Messrs. Jos. A. Dobrofsky, Sam Silver, Jess Ginsberg, M. A. Michaels; Mesdames S. W. Montefiore, Martin Wolff, V. S. Hart, I. S. Y.M.H.A. PLAY
"Katchy-Koo," ryrical musical comedy, will be produced by the Y.M.H.A. at the St. Denis Theatre on March 9, with a cast of over 250. The story is woven about the actions of The Maharajah, a typical Oriental lover, who upon seeing two beautiful American girls who are travelling in the Orient, forgets about his four wives. The leads are being taken by Miss Evelyn Rost, Miss Bertha Elman, -Miss Sadie Lerner, Miss Gertrude Hornstein, Miss Ruth Rosen, Jach C. Presner, Abe Miller, Ed. Blumenfeld, Isaac Diner; Chinese wife, Rae Marks; French wife, Miss Roter; Irish wife, Anne Baker; and Brazilian wife, Elizabeth Goodman.
Mr. Irving Gerdy addressed the Big Sister and Juvenile Aid Committee at a meeting which took place on February 29 at 1026 Dorchester Street West, on "Conditions warranting removal of a child from its home."
