Chassidim visit Vancouver Jewry
Two members of the Luba-V i t c h e r movement's "Torah Corps", Rabbi Jacob Goldberg and Rabbi Abraham Stone, arrived in Vancouver last week concluding a tour of the Pacific North-West that also took them to Denver, Portland, Tacoma, Olympia and Seattle,
The young scholars, senior students of Central Lubavitcher Yeshiva in New York, besides attending a "Melvah Malkah" at Schara Tzedeck synagogue last Saturday, visited other Jewish institutions as well as individuals The "Torah Corps" consists of more than 100 Yeshiva students and altogether they will visi; over 250 communities this summer. In order to bolster Jewish educational facilities, the students also disseminate Jewish educational literature in schools and homes.
Home residents enjoy program
Ida Robins, entertainment chairman for residents of Jewish Home fo-r the Aged, arranged a pleasant afternoon at the Home recently. When rainy weather caincelled an outing to the park for the second time, Ida Robins invited the Schimel Sisters to entertain with Jewish songs, recitations and music.

Jewish Home for the Agred is again sponsoring religious services for the High Holidays, Rosh Hashona and Yom Kippur. Cantor Harry Toft has been engaged and is preparing a choir of four to assist him in the services. The committee in charge is making all necessary preparations to accommodate the usual number of congregants and is planning impressive and orderly services. MONTREAL — An exciting playwriting contest of original dramatic or musical work on Jewish life today has been announced by Canadian Hadassah-Wizo. First prize award will be a $200 Israel Bond, second prize a $100 Israel Bond. First prize play may be produced at the 21st Biennial Convention which takes place in Toronto in January, 1966.
Closing date for entries is Oct. 25, with winners to be annoimced by Nov. 15, 1965. A distinguished panel of jiidges has been secured: Rupert Caplan, renowned Canadian producer of the C.B.C.; Charles Rittenhouse, supervisor of English department of Montreal Protestant school board; Mrs. Milton Eliasoph, co-ordinator education 1; Mrs. Ezra Lozinski, co-ordinator education 2; and Mrs. L. I. Frohlich, national chairman, programming.

Medical Aid Tea is highlight next week
" Exciting plans are being finalized for the Annual Medical Aid to Israel Tea sponsored each year by women of the Community. This year Mrs. Rae Morris is convener, and Mrs. Jack Diamond has graciously loaned her home at 1412 Connaught drive for this popular and worthy event.
There will be no personal invitations issued, but the entire community is being invited to attend the Medical Aid to Israel Tea on Wednesday, Aug. 25, from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Donations are also being sent to Mrs. M. Meyer, 2576 Oliver crescent, by all those out-of-town or unable to attend.
Among the many women in the community who have volunteered to assist in arrangements are: Mesdames L. Andrews, L. Fish-man, S. Charles, L. Mallin, M. S. Wolochow, M. Wolochow, M. Meyer, W. Libby.
Medical services in Israel are annually aided by the Tea through Canadian Hadassah-Wizo as representative in Canada for funds for polio rehabilitation in Israel. A hydro-therapy pool and rehabilitation centre at Sarafand, the only one in the Middle East, have been built in past years through such support.

Health in Israel. In addition to rehabilitating polio victims, it now cares for a variety of physically handicapped patients, with special attention for children suffering from palsy. The Centre is now functioning at capacity and at present there is great need for a new operating theatre and surgical ward fo exclusive use of children.
